“The roots are spreading, Chainors! Something dark is growing beneath the farm… Follow the trail and gather supplies as Halloween draws closer,” Chainers said in the post.
What’s on the reward track
The X post lists “20 levels of rewards” and says players can collect Rare items. The full breakdown appeared on the official Chainers NFT Telegram channel, which posted the announcement at 12:56 UTC on Oct. 20.
According to that post, the reward track includes Rare Light Tree Seeds, Uncommon and Rare Dark Tree Seeds, Spooky Cauldron Seeds and Aqualamps. It also mentions seasonal XP.
Players earn progress by spending CFB, winning in Chainers Dreams, using fertilizer and finishing TaskWall tasks.
A month of tree events
“Roots of Darkness” follows several events tied to the farm’s two trees. Chainers ran “Root of Light” from Sept. 24 to Sept. 28, a progression event that introduced Light Tree Seeds and let players craft them up to Rare rarity. It came with nine new bundles, split into separate offers.
Next came “Twisted Roots,” which ran Oct. 9 to Oct. 13. Chainers billed it as a double event with “x2 rewards compared to common events.” The Telegram announcement listed lootboxes with CFB boosters, Dark Tree Deeds with high-yield seeds and missions paying out limited Dark Tree Seeds. It also added Ghosty, a new animal.
“Restless Spirits” ran Oct. 13 to Oct. 16. Players could craft a Common Ghost from a Legendary White Ostrich and unlock the Uncommon recipe from there. Completing the event paid out limited ghosts, Dark Tree Seeds and a Legendary White Ostrich.
That event had six new bundles. Chainers said it adjusted the requirements to make completion easier, and extra TaskWall missions stayed open through Oct. 19.
A separate Dark Mirror event, “Dark Reflections,” ran Oct. 15 to Oct. 20. It added a Dark Axolotl, Common Dark Fern Seed, Dark Water Lamp and Dark Pool Plots, and a Mirror Pass carried a 20% discount through Oct. 17.
Background
Chainers runs in the browser and is free to play. Its farm mode has players plant seeds, raise animals and harvest crops. On its official site, the studio calls the farm the first NFT farm where crops “bloom into real crypto rewards every few hours,” and says the game is trusted by 500,000 Chainoors.
CFB is the in-game currency, and spending it is one of the four ways to move up the “Roots of Darkness” track. The progression closes at 12:00 UTC on Oct. 23.
