In Brief:
- Gorecats launched Splat-a-Gorecat on Oct. 22, a browser game built with Collector Crypt as partner.
- Each round costs 0.008 SOL. Splatting one of three Rare Gorecats in the prize pool guarantees a $25, $50 or $100 Pokémon gacha pack.
- Players can rip the packs they win, and the team said a pull could land a $5k card.
Gorecats has launched Splat-a-Gorecat, a game where players pay SOL per round and can win Pokémon gacha packs, in partnership with Collector Crypt.
The team announced the launch on X on Oct. 22. “SPLAT-A-GORECAT IS LIVE,” the post said, and it told players they could “Hit a Rare Gorecat to win a Pokémon Gacha Pack, then rip it for a shot at a $5k card.” The game runs at splat.gorecats.io.

Entry fees and odds
A standard game costs 0.008 SOL. There’s also a Super Splat mode at 0.04 SOL, which Gorecats said gives players five times better odds of winning prizes.
Gorecats calls it a game of skill. In a five-part thread posted with the announcement, the team said the longer a player survives in a round, the better their chances.
Rares, packs and crates
The prize pool holds three Rare Gorecats. Splat one and the game guarantees a $25, $50 or $100 Pokémon gacha pack, according to the thread.
Winners can then rip those packs. The thread said that gives a chance at bigger pulls “up to $500+ EPICS.” The launch post put the top of the range at a $5k card.
Every round also spawns a Mystery Crate. Hitting it triggers a Mystery Prize Spin when the game ends, and the spin can pay out weapons, extra lives, GCATS or gacha packs.
How a round works
Players have to splat Gorecats before they drop while avoiding bombs, dynamite and toxic barrels. Missing a Gorecat or hitting a hazard costs a life.
Everyone starts with three lives. Gorecats said players can raise that to as many as nine by earning XP.
The landing page shows a live feed of recent wins, including one player who won a shotgun.
Early reaction
Collector Crypt replied to the launch post within minutes. “Lets Splat some Cats!” the account said.
Solana Gaming joined in too. “Collectible gaming ftw 💥” the account said.
Not every reply was positive. One user singled out the 0.008 SOL entry fee and called the game a cash grab. Another asked late on launch night whether the game was still live because it wasn’t loading, and a third player answered that it was.
The announcement had more than 15,500 views and 30 replies by the next day.
Background
Gorecats comes from StudioNX, the Emmy-winning animation duo behind the project, which is based in Bristol, UK. It started as a pixel-art NFT collection on Magic Eden: 1,111 Gorecats sorted by levels of gore, including ultra-rare animated one-of-ones. The project’s rule was “The gorier your cat, the rarer your collectible.”
The project now describes itself as “Powered by $GCATS.” Its earlier game, Rise of the Gorecats, is a top-down survival shooter with a beta on itch.io. The team has also promoted the game on the dApp Store and PSG1.
The Gorecats profile on X lists the project’s planned path as “Seeker ➝ PSG1 ➝ Steam ➝ Roblox.” A recent post from the team said a Roblox game is in production and called its Poki listing for Rise of Gorecats “APPROVED.”
Collector Crypt has run this kind of partnership before. Rosentica: One Arena, another Solana game, advertises online battles with real-world TCG cards where players can win packs, in partnership with Collector Crypt and MagicBlock.
