Lightning Forge Games announced today the arrival of the Imperial Faction in Gladiator Mayhem, finalizing the game’s four-faction framework. The Imperials are characterized as the most lethal combatants, with a tagline that emphasizes their purpose to end rather than enter battles.
The lore reveals the Imperials as former conquerors, now desperate for survival. They seek the Forge Key to reclaim lost glory and power, intertwining their narrative with that of the other factions, all vying for the ancient relic that promises to fulfill its bearer’s deepest desires.
Gameplay details
Each faction in Gladiator Mayhem embodies a distinct combat style. The Imperials offer precise mobility, balancing offense and defense, catering especially to newcomers learning hero mechanics. They join the Barbarians, Ancients, and Kingdom, blending different styles for diverse gameplay.
Matches are short and fast-paced, featuring 2v2 combat. Players partner with an AI-controlled teammate, known as an LFG Agent, which adapts based on real-player data fed into the studio’s proprietary Satrn.ai engine. This design aims to keep competitive lobbies active, even during low-traffic periods.
Further distinguishing the gameplay experience, the AFK-and-Earn system allows players to earn rewards while offline, enabling seamless transitions back to the action.
Four factions vie for the Forge Key
The Imperials complement three earlier factions, each driven by unique motives for securing the Forge Key. The Barbarians crave primal freedom, the Kingdom seeks absolute power, and the Ancients yearn to reclaim their forgotten authority. The Imperials take the role of underdogs, fighting desperately for survival.
The game’s narrative evolves through quests and seasonal events centered around player choices reflecting Strength, Precision, Magic, or Might. The addition of the Imperials emphasizes a focus on Precision, blending mobility with strategic gameplay.
