In Brief:
- Legend of YMIR rolls out a Character NFT system on May 19, allowing players to trade developed characters as NFTs.
- Developer Wemade is behind the update, enhancing player engagement in the MMORPG built on Unreal Engine 5.
- This update adds tangible value to player progression, introducing a new economic layer to the game’s ecosystem.
New Character NFT system launches
Legend of YMIR will implement its Character NFT system in a scheduled update on May 19. This feature introduces a new trading layer where players can convert their developed in-game characters into NFTs, allowing for buying and selling through the WEMIX PLAY Marketplace.
Character NFTs can be minted after the update, providing two selling options: auctions or direct price offers. Players retain the ability to use their characters until they are sealed for trade, thus maintaining gameplay continuity. Once a character is sold, the new owner must unseal it in-game before it can be utilized. This process binds the character to the buyer’s account, and the studio advises caution, as unsealed characters cannot be resealed.
NFT and wallet integration
To facilitate this change, players must connect their WEMIX PLAY Wallet to their game account. One wallet can link to a single account, and this connection is permanent once any TOKEN feature is used. Actions like minting or unsealing require a two-signature verification process, adding a layer of security for players.
Wemade builds on prior implementations, having introduced a Character NFT model in NIGHT CROWS and prior titles. The second-generation tokenomics aims for long-term engagement rather than short-term play.
Additional features and updates
The May update is not limited to NFTs. A new Transcendence System will allow players to upgrade summons through duplicate summons, unlocking perks like skill enhancements and treasure slots. There’s also a Clan Annihilation Battle mode debuting every Wednesday, emphasizing competitive dynamics among clans.
Wemade’s approach follows a detailed roadmap that promises various systems and modes throughout 2026, ensuring a consistent flow of updates for players.
About Legend of YMIR
Developed by Wemade, Legend of YMIR is set in a world shaped by Norse mythology and built using Unreal Engine 5. The game features five classes and combines action mechanics with a player-driven economy. The global launch occurred in late October 2025 after a successful initial release in South Korea, and it has now expanded to multiple platforms including Steam.
Blockchain integration connects in-game achievements to the broader crypto economy, with G-WEMIX tokens earned through various competitive activities. Wemade has also established a reserve pool valued at around $7.5 million to protect the in-game economy from volatility.
With the Character NFT feature now live, players can turn their in-game efforts into marketable assets, adding a significant economic layer to the game experience.
