In Brief:

  • Loadout said $LUPIO, the token for Lupio Studios’ The Last Worlds: Crossed Souls, is “coming soon” to its Solana launchpad, with tokenomics still to come.
  • Three brothers in Italy are building the open-world action RPG. It has more than 25,000 Steam wishlists, a funded Kickstarter and a playable Steam demo.
  • The game is in Loadout's first cohort. The platform requires studios to hand over a playable demo and a funding plan before they can issue a token.

Loadout said The Last Worlds: Crossed Souls will launch its $LUPIO token on the platform. Neither a date nor the token’s economics have been released.

“Tokenomics soon,” the Loadout account posted on X.

The listing on Loadout’s app marks $LUPIO as “Coming Soon.” Loadout’s main site puts the game in its “First Cohort Launches Soon” group, so it’s lined up as one of the first titles on the platform. No contract address for $LUPIO had been published.

The pitch

Loadout called the game “a Zelda meets Pokémon open-world RPG built by three brothers” and said it was “Six years in the making.” Development reportedly began in 2020.

The post listed three numbers behind the listing: more than 25,000 Steam wishlists, a Kickstarter campaign that Kickstarter picked as a Project We Love and a playable demo on Steam.

Lupio Studios is an independent developer in Italy. Its team is the brothers Matteo, Pasquale and Vittorio, and a June 2026 announcement named Matteo Guadagni as founder. The studio takes its name from Lupio, the game’s companion character.

The brothers have said they grew up on Zelda, Pokémon and Monster Hunter. They’ve called the Dragon Quest series their biggest inspiration. The developers have also said no AI was used in the game’s design.

Kickstarter and demo

The Kickstarter opened Oct. 1, 2025, and hit its $10,000 goal in 44 hours. It reached about 150% funding, or roughly $16,000.

A $30,000 stretch goal would have brought in composer Yuko Komiyama through Scarlet Moon. Komiyama’s credits include Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy and Mega Man X.

Digital backer copies started at $25 and physical editions at $49. Higher tiers included merchandise and the chance to design in-game items, locations and pets.

Demo version 0.1.1 went live on Steam on Sept. 16, 2025. The demo map holds one to three hours of play. The studio plans a final map five times that size, at 15 to 20 hours, or about 10 times the demo’s size at 30 to 40 hours if a stretch goal for four extra biomes was reached.

Platforms and timing

Lupio Studios has estimated a full release by the end of 2026 on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Console versions are planned to arrive somewhat after the Steam release.

Switch 2 was confirmed in June 2026, with the original Switch still planned. The Switch versions will be ported after the PC version is finished.

Loadout’s model

Loadout launched on Solana on Oct. 12, 2026, according to KuCoin. A post on X described the platform as built for indie and AA studios and said Illuvium co-founder Kieran Warwick leads it.

Game tokens on Loadout carry a 5% trading fee: 4% goes to the studio treasury and 1% to the protocol. After referrals and rebates, 50% of the protocol’s net fee revenue goes to buying back and burning the platform’s own token, $LOAD.

The platform doesn’t allow presales, private rounds or VC discounts. Before a studio can issue a token through a bonding curve, it has to submit a playable demo, design documents, team details, a roadmap and a funding plan.

Loadout paused launches in mid-October. An Oct. 15 post said the team wanted launches “back up and running as soon as possible.” The next announced launch is Lo and Behold, a cozy roguelike from Soulcraft Games.

The game

Players control Matwin, the last human, and Lupio, a rare Nessky. Both were born on NESS-444, an alien planet close to ruin, and they set out to uncover where they came from.

Players can switch between the two at any time. Lupio is the agile one. Matwin is the heavy hitter, and his TimeFlame power lets him see fragments of past events.

Combat is real-time, a departure from Dragon Quest’s turn-based fights. The studio promises more than 20 weapons and spells plus a crafting system for gear.
