What changed
The first MoG 2.0 playtest launched July 1 with a prize pool of 250 Arcade Keys. Entry required a Ringbearer NFT or an Expedition Pass.
That round introduced persistent upgrades that carry across a run and a redesigned battle system that asks players to learn enemy patterns instead of relying on chance. New biomes, unique rooms and in-game items were added to raise the stakes as players push deeper.
How the game works
Maze of Gains drops players into mazes where they fight, collect upgrades and decide when to leave with their earnings. The novel leveling mechanic means early choices compound the further a player goes.
The game sits inside the Onchain Heroes universe on Abstract and uses the $HERO token for in-game transactions. Skarly, a former designer at Wolf Game, created it.
MoG stands for Maze of Gains. Access to the wider game runs through keys and NFTs, with the Genesis Hero and Genesis Ringbearer collections granting entry to related events.
The pull is the same one that drives every extraction game. Keep going and the rewards grow. Walk away too late and there’s nothing to keep.
