Eight episodes. Four months. Thatās the entire life cycle of Nicolas Cageās turn as a spider-powered private eye.
Prime Video has canceled Spider-Noir after one season, ending Cageās live-action run as the wall-crawling hero not long after all eight episodes of Season 1 dropped at once in May 2026.
The numbers looked good until they didnāt
Nielsen recorded 2.6 billion viewing minutes in the first six weeks after the premiere. Thatās a real start. But the show fell off Prime Video's top 10 charts quickly, and the early momentum didnāt hold.
The reception wasnāt the problem. Rotten Tomatoes logged 92% favorability from fans and 90% from critics for the crime drama take on the character. Our own take on Season 1 was an 8/10.

A detective story with a color switch
Cage played Ben Reilly, a private investigator with spider-like powers working cases for friends and clients in 1930s New York City. Lamorne Morris appeared as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy and Karen Rodriguez as Janet Ruiz. Sandman (Jack Huston) and Tombstone (Abraham Popoola) turned up as well.
The most unusual thing about it wasnāt the casting. Viewers could watch the whole series in black-and-white or in color, a toggle that gave the show a built-in reason to rewatch scenes. It wasnāt enough to keep audiences around.
Marvel isnāt finished with Amazon
Spider-Noir was the second Marvel series ordered by Prime Video, and the cancellation doesnāt close the door. More superhero projects could reach the streamer through a multi-title deal between Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures Television. Both are reportedly working on multiple projects, and one of them is said to be nearing a series order, though nothing has been announced.
Amazon, Sony and Prime Videoās larger Marvel plans stay unclear for now. A separate Spider-Man-style project, Silk: Spider Society, was once in the works before it was canceled.
