Ten classes. One curse. And nobody who bought their way to the top waiting to farm you the second you log in.
That’s the pitch behind Raven2 – Zero, Netmarble’s new server for its dark fantasy MMORPG, and it’s a more interesting one than most “fresh start” announcements. The base game already has players in 155 countries building custom avatars down to the fine details before turning them loose in a world where survival is the daily assignment. Zero keeps that world. It changes who gets to compete in it.
The problem Zero is actually solving
Raven2 has a lot of fighting in it. So much that newer players can feel shut out of the adventure before they’ve figured out where anything is. You show up late, the veterans have their gear, and the PvP math never works in your favor.
Zero’s answer is a redesigned progression system and an overhauled competitive structure aimed squarely at players who aren’t entrenched. Quest requirements are cut sharply. EXP from killing monsters goes up. Accuracy balance has been re-adjusted so you can push through hunting areas without fighting the numbers as well as the demons.
The point is that you can stay competitive by playing. Not by paying.
What’s been taken off the table
Here’s the part that matters most. Mythic-grade Holy Garments, Familiars and Awakenings don’t exist on Zero. They’re excluded from the server entirely.
What you get instead is a range of Holy Garments and Familiars, the highest-graded equipment available on Zero, earned through events. Everyone builds up through the game. Nobody opens their wallet on day one and skips to the finish.
It’s a blunt fix, and blunt fixes are usually the ones that work.
Farming, for once, pays
When other players aren’t hunting you, an MMORPG turns back into the thing people liked about MMORPGs. Zero leans into that with higher equipment drop rates on field loot, which is a reasonable trade for hours spent on fields full of abominations.
Field hunting also feeds a new currency called Farming Crystals, and you can only collect them by playing. No shortcut exists. The crystals get exchanged for key items from the Shop, so the grind cashes out directly. And those revised accuracy numbers mean your hits land in large-scale battles instead of dissolving into miss after miss.
The welcome package is not small
Everyone who joins gets the [Zero] Special Starter Package: Heroic-grade Holy Garments and Familiars to start with. On top of that, 550 Summon scrolls plus Legendary Holy Garments and Familiars, which is enough to move a character along without the grind swallowing your month.
More Heroic-grade equipment and level milestone rewards arrive through other events, all of it pointed at the same goal of keeping spending pressure down.
Lapsed players get their own lane. Welcome Back events hand out a Legendary Holy Garment and Familiar, 330 Summons and more, running alongside a Burning Event built to speed up progression. If you quit Raven2 at some point and felt vaguely bad about it, this is the window.
The new kid problem
Joining an established MMORPG feels like transferring schools midyear. The friend groups are set, the hierarchy is decided and you’re the one holding the tray looking for a table.
Zero flattens that by putting everyone on the same ground at the same time. There’s still plenty of violence on this server. It’s just aimed at monsters rather than at the person who logged in three weeks after you did.
You’re marked with the Cursed Stigma either way, sent out to vanquish demons and investigate strange happenings across a dying land. That life tends to be brutal. On Zero, at least it’s yours to carve.
