Rockstar Games is finally showing GTA 6 in motion. The studio announced an Extended Look at Grand Theft Auto 6 landing on Netflix on August 27 at 3:00 PM EST, which means the drought is over.
Two cinematic trailers. A pile of new screenshots earlier this year. And still, somehow, nothing that qualified as actual gameplay.
That gap has been the whole story of GTA 6’s rollout. Rockstar keeps promising one of the most massive open-world experiences in gaming history, the release date keeps creeping closer, and players have been getting a little nervous about how little they’ve seen of the thing running.
Fans have spent years speculating about what kind of gameplay experience GTA 6 delivers and how it improves on previous installments. Rockstar said nothing about a third trailer. Then a new post on X changed that.
Where to watch, and when
The Netflix preview “will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27″ after its Netflix debut. So if you don’t have Netflix, you’re waiting six hours. That’s the trade.
The GTA 6 Extended Look page is live on Netflix right now. You can set a reminder and poke around for a preview of what’s coming, though nothing major has been posted there yet.
What “Extended Look” probably means
Rockstar hasn’t spelled out the details, which is very much on brand. But the title implies a deep dive into real gameplay, a third trailer, and a much clearer sense of what the final release looks like this Fall.
The timing helps a specific group of people: everyone who put money down when pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, and has been waiting patiently ever since without much to show for it.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is available for pre-order now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It releases November 19, 2026. Mark August 27 on whatever you use to remember things.
