Rugpull Bakery Season 3 Goes Solo on Abstract Chain With Rug Reduction System After Season 2 Cheating Backlash

In Brief:

  • Season 2 of Rugpull Bakery ends amid accusations of cheating involving bots and multi-accounting.
  • OnchainChemists responds with five significant changes for Season 3, notably shifting to a solo bakery format.
  • The adjustments aim to mitigate exploitation and improve player experience in the competitive environment.

Rugpull Bakery faces backlash as Season 2 wraps up

Rugpull Bakery concluded its second season under intense criticism from players concerned about cheating. Zoloto231, captain of the Abstract CIS bakery, publicly condemned the use of bots and multi-accounting, calling for accountability from OnchainChemists and the Abstract team.

The statement pointed to a decline in the competitive spirit of the game, as players allegedly exploited loopholes. Zoloto231 claimed identifying these offenders was straightforward and referenced data from fellow community member Azino_x, who compiled a list of suspected cheaters. Specific allegations targeted rival captain 0xCygaar, accused of coordinating attacks across guilds using different accounts.

Season 3 of Rugpull Bakery is almost live. Here are the main changes coming to this season:

1) Solo bakeries. Group bakeries will return soon, but this season is focused on the individual baker.

2) The prize pool is now split between the top 100 users and a general activity…

The complaint highlighted the ethical dimension of gameplay, referencing Rugpull Bakery’s user-conduct clause. Zoloto231 urged actions against players violating the integrity of the game.

Changes announced for Season 3

OnchainChemists addressed the situation with a post detailing five major changes for Season 3, aimed at resolving complaints from the previous season.

A key transition is the elimination of the guild structure, shifting to individual bakeries. This alteration weakens the possibility for coordinated attacks on single targets noted in complaints about Season 2.

The second reform involves restructuring prize distribution to reward both top players and general activity, thereby incentivizing participation from casual players.

The introduction of the Rug Reduction System (RRS) aims to mitigate the effects of attacks from smaller bakeries, increasing costs and penalties for back-to-back targeting of the same bakery.

Furthermore, the new season limits bakeries to one boost and one rug at any given time, which reduces strategic stacking and encourages more thoughtful gameplay. Adjustments in cooldowns and costs intend to balance pacing without creating excessive downtime.

Understanding the game’s structure

Rugpull Bakery combines humor with competitive gaming mechanics. Players buy into each season with ETH to participate in baking cookies, the in-game currency, which can be used for boosts or attacking items called rugs. The previous season’s dynamics sparked discussions about automation and multi-accounting practices.

A referral system allows players to earn bonuses for bringing others into the game, but it can be exploited by those who create multiple wallets to gain an unfair advantage.

Implications for Abstract Chain

Abstract Chain, the platform powering the game, has positioned itself as a consumer-friendly network focused on building engaging onchain experiences. Having recently raised $11 million from investors, including Founders Fund, the chain’s reputation is at stake with this ongoing controversy.

Earlier incidents involving user trust, such as reported wallet drains in other games on the Abstract platform, add further pressure on the team to maintain high standards of integrity.

The adjustments for Season 3 signal an attempt to reshape the competitive environment, countering the tactics that led to the controversy. As the community awaits the outcome, the stakes remain high for both OnchainChemists and Abstract Chain’s broader mission.

“There’s a lot of attention on how this plays out,” Zoloto231 remarked, emphasizing the need for accountability in maintaining the game’s integrity.
