Shiba Inu just landed on a second major blockchain, and the market barely noticed. SHIB is now tradable on Solana through Sunrise, but at press time the token sat at around $0.0000057, with very little meaningful price movement to show for the expanded reach.

That flat reaction is the most telling part of this story. The integration itself is more useful than a price chart suggests.

What changed for SHIB holders

Sunrise now gives Solana markets access to the canonical form of the Ethereum token. In practice, you can trade SHIB inside Solana’s decentralized finance (DeFi) apps without first leaving Solana to go find the token somewhere else.

The key word is canonical. Without an official version, a blockchain can end up with several unofficial copies of the same coin. Those copies split liquidity across competing pools, which makes trading worse for everyone.

Sunrise tries to fix that by creating a canonical mint that has the issuer’s approval. One token, one recognized version.

SHIB isn’t leaving Ethereum

Don’t read this as a migration. SHIB started out as an ERC-20 token, and that original version stays on Ethereum.

Shibarium isn’t moving to Solana either. Sunrise is only bringing over a canonical Solana representation of the asset so it can trade in Solana’s markets.

Solana called Shiba Inu “one of the largest communities in crypto” and said the project has grown beyond its beginnings as a meme coin with a dog mascot.

How Sunrise works

Sunrise is an asset gateway powered by Wormhole Labs. Its job is to pull assets from outside blockchains into Solana.

That covers three things: creating or recognizing a canonical Solana token, provisioning liquidity and plugging the token into wallets, decentralized exchanges and aggregators.

The meme coin pipeline keeps filling up

When Sunrise launched in November 2025, its headline listing was Monad’s MON. The roster has grown a lot since.

Dogecoin arrived on Solana in September via Sunrise and Wormhole NTT. On Sept. 18, PEPE followed. Solana said in a post that the Ethereum-based meme coin was now accessible across Solana applications through Sunrise.

SHIB is the latest name on that list. If you hold it and you already spend most of your time in Solana wallets and DEXs, this gives you more places to trade SHIB on-chain without bridging it yourself. Just don’t expect the listing to move the price on its own. So far, it hasn’t.
