Axie Infinity: Terrariums V1 launched
Sky Mavis has launched Axie Infinity: Terrariums V1, a pivot from the now-defunct homeland game to a streamlined system for landholders. This new version offers an economic layer that allows players to activate plots and earn rewards by assigning axies and utilizing a resource called Lunium.
The design of Terrariums V1 focuses on simplifying land use. Players activate their plots, spend Lunium, and receive bAXS tokens distributed hourly. Unlike Homeland, players won’t manage complex gameplay, but instead have an efficient way to earn from their assets.
Key components: axies and Lunium
Axies influence rewards with Atia’s Flame, affecting each plot’s earning potential. Rarer axies generate more Flame, providing a strategic layer. For instance, Mystic axies produce 200 times more Flame than common ones, underscoring their value.
Lunium, the system’s essential resource, has two forms: Local Lunium, generated slowly over time, and Global Lunium, which can be purchased. Players face a choice between using free resources or investing for quicker returns.
Dynamic earning potential
Earnings depend not only on players’ choices but also on the competitive landscape. Each plot’s share of rewards is influenced by its Flame relative to others in the category. This creates scenarios where lower-tier plots can outperform prestigious ones if faced with intense competition.
The first earning period kicks off on June 19 at 07:00 UTC. Players can prepare their plots, but those relying solely on Local Lunium will find it takes approximately five days to recharge. Immediate earners will need to purchase Global Lunium from launch packages.
Monetization and future plans
Sky Mavis outlines a monetization strategy where Lunium, purchasable with bAXS, AXS, USDC, and WETH, is not a tradable token. This helps stabilize the ecosystem. Revenue from Lunium sales will be directed to a company-controlled wallet, used to bolster the Axie economy and increase axie holdings.
It’s crucial to note that this is only V1 of Terrariums. Numerous features, such as land item placement and evolved axie parts, are forthcoming. Sky Mavis positions this update as a foundational step toward realizing Axie’s long-term land visions.
