The Sandbox (official site) has signed Xsolla to handle payments and monetization for games made with The Sandbox Studio, its upcoming platform for building games with AI tools. Studio hasn’t launched yet, so none of this is live for players.
Games built in Studio will be able to sell items in two ways: through an external web shop and through purchases made directly inside the game. Creators can sell virtual items, in-game currency and subscriptions. Xsolla runs the payment and purchase fulfillment systems behind those sales, and the two companies say it supports more than 1,000 payment methods and includes fraud protection.
What it changes for creators
The payment tools come built into the development platform, so creators don’t have to set up their own store. Selling a currency pack, for example, takes a system that accepts the payment, confirms the transaction and makes sure the currency reaches the right player. Xsolla handles that part. Creators design the game and set prices that suit their audience and business model.
SAND, The Sandbox SAND $0.05835 ▲ +4.2%’s token, is a second option. The Sandbox says players will be able to buy in-game currency packs with SAND when Studio launches, and its announcement describes this as a native feature that works alongside Xsolla’s services.
How The Sandbox Studio works
Payments are one piece of the wider Studio package. Creators can build with prompts, templates and code, and can use outside AI tools alongside the platform. The Sandbox supplies hosting, authentication and multiplayer, and games can be published to the web and to Telegram. Browser games made in Studio run on desktop, mobile and tablets.
The Sandbox’s creator website lists Meshy, Scenario and Tripo as tools for generating character assets, with Suno and ElevenLabs for music and sound effects.
