In Brief:

  • Skarly’s Yield Fields, the latest title from the Wolf Game and Onchain Heroes team, is set to launch on Robinhood Chain with 3,333 Founding Deed NFTs.
  • An event dubbed Deed Season in Maze of Gains generated significant player engagement, resulting in 7,591 participants and over $721,000 in marketplace volume.
  • Players can convert gameplay rewards back into spendable currency, significantly impacting the economics of farming within the game.

Game launches on Robinhood Chain

Skarly’s Yield Fields is drawing attention as it prepares for its launch on Robinhood Chain, accompanied by the minting of 3,333 Founding Deed NFTs. Although players do not need a Deed to participate, holders will unlock a unique resource-generating gameplay loop.

Deed Season, an event held in Onchain Heroes’ Maze of Gains, facilitated access to the mint whitelist. The event ran from September 17 to 28, attracting 7,591 players who completed 226,904 runs and burned over 8.4 million keys. Marketplace trading reached $721,924 in volume during this time, according to the development team.

Gameplay highlights

The numbers from Deed Season highlight considerable engagement. However, it’s essential to differentiate between key consumption and actual player spending. The game’s structure allows players to reinvest rewards, creating a cycle of in-game currency circulation.

In a 24th September update, developers allocated 70% of Arcade key value to the weekly prize pool, 23% to bounty rewards, and 7% to development. This allocation supports ongoing engagement and provides incentives for players.

One standout player, Issa, utilized 41,100 keys for gameplay, earning $30,500 in gold cashback and $8,500 in bounties, along with seven whitelist spots. At the price of $1 per Arcade key, this implies substantial gross spending of $41,100. After accounting for rewards, Issa’s net outlay seems to be around $2,100, or $300 for each whitelist spot secured.

Whitelist spots and market movement

In total, Skarly allocated 1,000 guaranteed whitelist spots to holders of Onchain Heroes’ Ringbearer and Genesis Ring NFTs. Following the announcement, the floor price of Ringbearer NFTs surged approximately 1 ETH, or $2,685, adding context to the financial commitment required for entry.

This dynamic reveals not just the economics of Yield Fields, but also the evolving nature of NFT value in relation to gameplay rewards. The commitment required to secure access to NFT sales may redefine player engagement strategies in this space.
