Mines of Dalarnia

What is Mines of Dalarnia?

Mines of Dalarnia is a side-scrolling action game about mining. Its own line for itself is "an evolving platform-mining blockchain game, filled with single- and multiplayer action, built for every gamer", and the loop is exactly that: drop into a plot, dig through the terrain for minerals and rare artefacts, deal with what lives down there, and get back out with what you found.

How to play

What you bring back feeds the upgrade loop. Items are combined and used to improve your character's skills and equipment, which raises your rank and opens harder ground. Update 1.6, "Journey to Dalarnia" — the newest release the site lists — added a new-player onboarding campaign and a rework of player progression, alongside mission chains from Foreman Sheldon and enemies such as the game's resilient bullrats. Play is both single-player and multiplayer, and difficulty scales with the plot rather than with a level select.

Land, the chain and the setting

The blockchain layer is a land market: plots are owned as assets and mined, which is the real-estate half of the game. Those features returned to the game on BNB Chain with the 1.4 "Rechained" update, after a period during which the game ran off-chain. The setting is science fiction — the year 11,752, a Metagalactic Collective guided by an artificial intelligence called The Onemind, and Terraforming Capsules that cause a planet to generate the minerals players are then sent underground to dig for.

#Mining
thumb_up Pros
Simple, captivating action-adventure gameplay that is easy to pick up
Mining and item-combining loop lets you craft and upgrade gear
Character progression through skills and equipment upgrades tied to in-game rank
Blockchain-based real-estate market adds a player-driven economy layer
Runs on BNB Chain, so transactions use a low-cost, widely supported network
thumb_down Cons
Single-chain on BNB Chain only, with no multi-chain support for players on other networks
Requires a crypto wallet and DAR token familiarity, which adds friction for newcomers
Land and item ownership means progress depends partly on market prices, not just skill
Mining-and-upgrade loop can feel repetitive for players who want deeper narrative or variety
Limited to the adventure/strategy niche, so it may not suit players outside those genres

Our verdict on Mines of Dalarnia

Mines of Dalarnia is a 2D side-scrolling mining game rather than the open-world crawler its name suggests. A run drops the player into a single plot to dig through destructible rock, dodge alien creatures and haul out ore before the light runs out. The timer, not the combat, is the real pressure: seconds spent fighting are ore not extracted. It runs in the browser, with no client to install.

The economy is where the design actually sits. Every level is a land plot minted as an NFT, generated with its own terrain type — terrestrial, lava, ice or darkness — and its own resource-spawn probabilities, so no two plots pay out alike. Players take one of two roles: miners rent plots using DAR, the game's BNB Chain token, while landowners take a cut and terraform their holdings to raise yields.

The weakness is depth. Layouts stay fixed between visits, so a plot's surprise is spent after the first descent, and progression is grind-shaped by design — upgrades exist to make longer digs viable rather than to change how mining plays. It suits players who enjoy incremental resource loops and want a tradable asset market attached; anyone expecting a substantial action game will run out of it fast.

This is our own editorial assessment. We do not score games — ratings come from players.
