Our verdict on Wilder World
Despite the metaverse-MMORPG label, Wilder World is better understood as a photorealistic open-world project built in Unreal Engine 5 around a single setting: Wiami, a synthwave reimagining of 1980s Miami with cyberpunk styling. Ownership runs on Ethereum through collections such as Wheels, Cribs, Kicks and Beasts, with the WILD token covering governance and in-world purchases. There are no quest-and-creature RPG loops here in the traditional sense.
What works is the presentation and the decision to ship modes rather than promises. A racing build came first, followed by a free, PC-based "Super Early Access" release adding third- and first-person arena combat, plus tournaments with real prize pools. The vehicle handling and the city's art direction are the strongest arguments for it.
What does not work is cohesion. The world is still arriving in pieces: free-roam traversal, building, mining and live events have spent long stretches as roadmap entries, and the "full open world" date has moved more than once. Asset prices assume a level of activity the current build does not yet generate.
It suits PC players who want a good-looking driving-and-shooting sandbox and are comfortable owning assets in something unfinished. Anyone expecting a complete persistent RPG should wait.
