The Sandbox Launches “Next”
The Sandbox, the well known crypto metaverse, is venturing into new territory with the launch of its mobile battle royale game, Next. Utilizing Unreal Engine for development, Next is poised to offer a swift and engaging player-versus-player (PVP) gaming experience, complete with features like auto-aim and auto-shoot.
Game Features and Maps
Upon its launch, Next will provide players with two distinct battle environments. ‘The Desert’ offers an expansive terrain ideal for long-range battles and strategic gameplay, while ‘The City’ map is designed for close-quarter, vertical combat scenarios. Both maps will allow for up to 20 players simultaneously in both solo and multiplayer modes. Styled in The Sandbox’s signature blocky aesthetic, these maps aim to enhance the visual and interactive experience for players.
Integration and Rewards
Significantly, Next is integrated with The Sandbox platform, enabling a seamless flow between the game and the broader ecosystem. Players can transfer their identities, progress, and assets between Next and other platform offerings. Furthermore, daily quests in Next reward players with NFTs. Those diligent enough to collect all four daily reward NFTs will obtain a unique duck avatar, enriching their gameplay experience.
Strategic Expansion
Robby Yung, the CEO of The Sandbox, emphasized the broader strategic vision behind Next. “Like our recent launch of WebGL games, Next is part of our plan to increase the reach of The Sandbox so players can discover, play and come back more often, whether they’re on desktop or on their phone,” Yung explained. This approach aims to adapt to user behavior by providing robust gaming experiences both on desktops and mobile devices.
Upcoming Playtest
Interested players can sign up for the upcoming playtest of Next, with registrations open until March 25th. The playtest itself will commence on March 26th and will run until April 5th. This period will allow players to explore the game’s features and provide feedback on their experiences, helping to shape the final version of the game before a wider release.
