Cypress Cove Nudist Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, has spent the last stretch of days explaining to Google reviewers that it is not, in fact, in Leonida.
The resort’s Google page filled up with posts referencing “Jason Duval,” “Lucia,” binoculars, a pool and firearms. None of those reviewers had stayed there. All of them were doing a bit about Grand Theft Auto 6.
The owner has been replying, one by one, with the weariest possible correction.
“For anyone wondering about the suddenly recurring references to ‘Jason Duval,’ ‘Lucia,’ binoculars, a pool, firearms, and other suspiciously similar details — those are references to Grand Theft Auto VI,” the site owner said. “Yes. A video game.”
The part that stops being funny
The owner called the wave a “coordinated series of fabricated posts using GTA VI references,” and alleged that some posts were followed by requests that the rest “pay money to have the reviews changed or removed.”
Their response was blunt: “we will not pay” and “we will not negotiate.” They said the resort has “documented the reviews and the request for payment” and added that “This activity is being reported through the appropriate channels.”
Then came the line that deserves a plaque.
“For our actual guests and anyone researching Cypress Cove: please understand that these posts do not describe genuine guest experiences at our resort,” the resort’s Google representative said. “And to whoever is behind them: We appreciate the commitment to the GTA storyline, but Cypress Cove is located in Florida — not Leonida.”
Where the nudist resort idea even came from
Here’s the part worth being precise about. Rockstar Games hasn’t shown an in-game nudist resort. Players first heard about one through leaks that spread online last month, and that early footage gave watchers enough to start guessing how the studio might have borrowed from real places for its version of Vice City.
So the chain runs: unverified leaked footage, then fan speculation, then a real business getting buried in fake one-stars. Whether Cypress Cove is the place Rockstar looked at is entirely unconfirmed.
Fans doing this kind of location sleuthing isn’t new. Arc Raiders players did the same thing in January. Usually it turns into something nice for the real-world spot. This one didn’t.
Most of it’s been scrubbed, but not all
The GTA 6 reviews appear to have been mostly cleared from the Google page. The owner’s reply still sits under a few of the more suspicious ones, including posts referencing the leaks, like a man who “pulled out his binoculars.”
One posted yesterday went ahead and said the quiet part: “Will be trying to book a reservation on Nov. 19th. I will be playing GTA 6 for three days straight while nude in my RV. Shout out to Rockstar for showing me this gem of a place!”
November 19 is the release date for the new Grand Theft Auto, arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S after a 13-year wait. That wait has produced a fanbase that measures oxygen levels hoping to predict reveals and turns up for Netflix announcements, so a coordinated review-bombing campaign against a Florida nudist resort is, unfortunately, in character.
Fans have also tracked down the location they suspect inspired Jason and Lucia's apartment. That one, for now, is safe.
