In Brief:
- MapleStory Universe (official site) plans to release Moonbridge, the first area of Tenebris, and a new boss, Gloom, on Nov. 12, COO Keith said in an 11-post thread on X.
- Darknell and Verus Hilla are targeted for December, with the Black Mage aimed at the first quarter of 2027. That misses the “Black Mage in 2026” timeline Keith set in March.
- Growth events get better rewards starting in November, and Nexpace is working on Dynamic Pricing for enhancement costs and on how gear and cosmetics enter the economy.
MapleStory Universe will open Moonbridge, the first area of Tenebris, on Nov. 12 with a new boss, Gloom. The expedition toward the Black Mage starts there, but the Black Mage won’t arrive this year.
Keith, chief operating officer of MapleStory Universe, set out the schedule Monday in an 11-post thread on X. It confirmed a teaser he called “that mood post.”

“It’s Moonbridge, the first area of Tenebris. It arrives on November 12 alongside a new boss, Gloom. This is where the expedition toward the Black Mage begins,” Keith said.
Black Mage slips to 2027
Darknell comes after Gloom, then Verus Hilla. The team is aiming for December for both, with the Black Mage following in the first quarter of 2027.
That pushes back a target Keith set publicly earlier this year.
“Back in March I tweeted ‘Black Mage in 2026.’ We won’t make that timeline. My bad,” Keith said. “We want to get this fight right, and I owe you clearer updates on our progress.”
Rewards for first clears
The first three parties to clear Gloom will earn Endless Terror rings and exclusive Gloom-themed cosmetics. The first party will also get exclusive stat-boosting medals, and the team plans to add statues of those players’ characters in the following patch.
Full reward details will come at launch. Parties are capped at three players.
“We want those first Gloom clears to be remembered,” Keith said.
Most players aren’t ready yet
The thread also included progression data showing how far the player base is from the endgame. To get the Black Mage’s full damage bonus, a character needs Level 280 and 1,320 Arcane Power. Reaching 1,320 means maxing out Arcane Symbols in every region.
Among accounts active from Oct. 16-29, the median was Level 222 with 230 Arcane Power. The top 5% by level had a median of Level 252 and 1,140 Arcane Power.
“Even our highest-level group has more progress to make toward the Black Mage,” Keith said.
Growth events and new systems
Nexpace is refreshing its growth events with better rewards starting in November. A pass system, daily check-in rewards and products with growth supplies are also coming. Some of that will be in the Nov. 12 update, with more after.
“These are endgame fights, so building your character is part of the challenge. We want growth support to make that preparation more manageable,” Keith said.
Outside of new content, the team is working on Dynamic Pricing to keep enhancement costs steadier. It’s also reworking how gear enters the game economy, so supply better matches demand, and how cosmetic items are supplied. Keith said he’ll cover those systems in future threads.
Background
In Nexon’s PC MapleStory, Tenebris has three areas: Moonbridge, Labyrinth of Suffering and Limina. Gloom is Moonbridge’s final boss.
The official MapleStory Universe account pointed followers to the thread, saying, “Behind the scenes updates from our COO Keith start here.”
Under the post, one player replied, “How about 6th job?” The thread didn’t address it. Keith ended with two words: “Back to work!”
