Rebel Wolves is adding an even easier difficulty setting to The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it’s aimed squarely at players who came for the story and would rather not grind through demanding combat encounters.
The new option lands with the RPG’s first major update, expected in early October on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Story Mode is probably getting a new name
Here’s the wrinkle. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz explained that the current Story Mode will likely be renamed “Demanding.” A significantly easier setting takes its place, built for anyone who wants to follow the narrative without the combat system getting in the way.
The rename says plenty on its own. If you picked Story Mode expecting a gentle ride, the studio has apparently noticed.
What nobody has spelled out yet
Whether the new setting lets you skip encounters entirely or simply dials the challenge down a long way hasn’t been clarified. Either way, the pitch is the same: less fighting standing between you and the next chapter.
The rest of the patch
The update also brings performance improvements for the PC version, camera and targeting adjustments, and a smoother way to retreat from fights that aren’t going your way. (That last one matters more than it sounds if you’ve ever been cornered with no clean exit.)
More details are due before launch.
Until then, the “Demanding” label sits in the wings, waiting for everyone who thought Story Mode was the easy way in.
