AFK Heroes has rolled out live 1v1 duels, moving its PvP from alternating turns to real-time matches between players.

The duels put real players against each other in real time, the team said. Three classes and 15 skills are in play. And players choose how hands-on they want to be: “Let the AI fight, or take control.”
The team released a trailer with the announcement. It didn’t give details on matchmaking, rewards or whether $AFKHERO is tied to duel results.
A break from the idle loop
The feature cuts against the game’s core design. AFK Heroes is built so heroes fight monsters, collect loot and earn $AFKHERO automatically, even when the player is away.
The optional AI control keeps that idle model available inside PvP. Players who want to steer the fight can do it manually.
The three classes match the game’s existing roster. Players pick a knight, mage or rogue when they start.
PvP arrived in Season 2
PvP first came to AFK Heroes with Season 2, which launched July 24. That update also added guilds, crafting, tournaments, server-wide zone bosses and a Powerball feature.
Season 3 followed on Aug. 28. It reset all heroes to level 1 and tripled reward pools.
Guild members can earn up to 25% more $AFKHERO, according to the game’s guild system.
Mining went live this month
The duels come shortly after the October release of mining, which lets players move a hero off combat and into a mine. The mine has three zones of 91 hexes each, with pickaxes, hauls and hexes the community can open up.
“Flip one switch and your hero leaves the battlefield for the mine,” the team said when it announced the feature.
The game has also launched on the Solana dApp Store. Seeker phone owners can claim a one-time welcome pack with gear, potions and boosts.
Background
AFK Heroes launched in June 2026 as a free-to-play browser game on Solana. There’s nothing to download. Players connect a wallet such as Phantom or Solflare and send a voxel hero out to level up and find gear across nine zones.
Combat zones run from Frozen Spire at level 40 to Singularity Vault at level 90 and above. Earned $AFKHERO can be withdrawn to a player’s own wallet.
The token launched on Pump.fun with a total supply of 1 billion. Optional starter packs sell gear, gold and potions, though the game said they aren’t required to play.
The pitch for the new mode fit in one line of the announcement: “real players, real time, 3 classes, 15 skills.”
