One trailer ate the week. Rockstar’s final GTA 6 trailer landed, and almost everything else in gaming had to fight for whatever attention was left.

This is our weekly roundup of the stories you read most over the last few days, pulled from our own traffic numbers. If you missed the flood of announcements, rumors and reveals, start here.

GTA 6 had the trailer and the rumor mill

The final GTA 6 trailer was the biggest story. Talk about a PC version of the game came close behind. Treat the PC chatter as rumor for now. Nothing in this week’s news confirms it.

The rest of the gaming news was more practical. There were new free games to grab, this month’s PS Plus additions, and updates for both Steam and PlayStation 5. God of War fans also got news of a collector’s bundle.

Familiar faces in film and TV

Most of the entertainment news came from big franchises you already know. Avengers: Doomsday and The Beekeeper 2 both had updates. A new X-Files project also made the list, which tells you how long nostalgia can keep a series going.

A few well-known actors are returning to roles, and more series are on the way to Netflix and HBO Max. If your watchlist already feels full, it’s going to get longer.

The hardware market is shrinking

The tech news was the most sobering. Sales in both the smartphone and PC markets fell sharply. That’s a bad backdrop for every company trying to sell you a new device this fall.

Apple still had new announcements to make. Microsoft said it plans to make Windows 11 faster, which is a promise you should judge once you’ve used the update on your own machine.

Timekeeping got a surprising amount of attention

The odd one out this week was a story about how we measure time. It sat on the list alongside a few new tech ideas that got readers curious, which shows people will click on more than spec sheets and sales charts.

If you only have time for one thing, watch the GTA 6 trailer. Then wait for Microsoft to ship that faster Windows 11 before you believe the claim.
