Illuvium opened nominations for its Epoch 12 governance elections Friday. Five seats on the Illuvium Main Council are up for election.
Nominations run from 05:00 UTC on Oct. 17 to 05:00 UTC on Oct. 27, the project said on X. Voting is scheduled for Oct. 27-31.
Illuvium Epoch 12 Governance Elections Are Here
Nominations for the Illuvium Main Council are now OPEN.
Five IMC seats are up for election, and this is your opportunity to help shape the future of Illuvium governance.
Nominations: Oct 17 05:00 UTC – Oct 27 05:00 UTC
Voting: October 27–31
The IMC is now the DAO’s only elected council. That makes this round the only community election currently on Illuvium’s governance calendar.
Voting tied to Staking V3
The timing of the election depended on technical work. At its Sept. 2 meeting, the IMC said “a definitive solution has been agreed upon for the Staking V3 voting integration.”
The minutes said “vILV voting power on Ethereum and Base will be calculated separately, with a user’s total voting power determined by the combined balance across both chains.”
The council also wrote that “the integration will be implemented as soon as possible, with Epoch 12 elections expected to begin shortly after completion.” It didn’t give a date then. The Oct. 17 announcement fixed one.
The Sept. 2 minutes listed Kieran as Illuvium Team Admin. Josh, Filo, Patate and Paz were listed as council members.
A smaller governance structure
This election is the first since Illuvium cut back its council structure. On March 2, the IMC approved a proposal to temporarily pause the Illuvium Community Council.
The proposal pointed to lower market activity and lower community participation. Its authors argued that governance engagement, the number of proposals and forum activity were too low to justify a separate community body.
The Community Sub Council approved the pause Feb. 27, and the IMC approved it three days later. ICC members stopped their active duties, and ICC salaries and operating expenses were suspended. The IMC took over the ICC’s governance, review and community-facing work.
Reviving the ICC would require a new governance proposal. The proposal listed possible triggers: more governance participation, more proposals, better market conditions or clear demand from the community.
The pause came after earlier cost cuts. GCCP-4, which passed in April 2025, reduced council salaries and made the IMC fully decentralized again, with all voting power coming from token stakers.
How the last vote went
The previous election, for Epoch 11, opened April 30, 2025, with nominations for both the IMC and DAO committees. IMC voting closed May 13 at 00:00 UTC and was open to anyone staking ILV.
That vote elected Kieran Warwick, @JoshwaaaDixon, @illuvination, @jaganite and @X_Filow. The new council then appointed committee members, including the Esports Committee, through May 18.
Under Governance V3, Illuvium lengthened epochs from six months to nine months. The stated aim was to reduce how often new council members had to be onboarded and to make the roles more stable.
Illuvium’s governance documentation says ILV stakers “have the ability to nominate individuals for sub-council seats and delegate their votes to the nominees,” and ties voting power to staking to prevent Sybil attacks.
The Oct. 17 announcement asked token holders to take part in the process, calling the open seats “your opportunity to help shape the future of Illuvium governance.”
