In Brief:
- Undead Blocks (official site) announced five new in-game challenges on X: Weapon Level Up, Headshot Hunter, Untouchable, Survivor and Rampage.
- The studio said players who complete them can “earn permanent upgrades.” It didn’t give a release date or explain how each challenge works.

Undead Blocks UNDEAD $0.0003634 ▼ -2.8% is adding five new challenges, and it says players can earn permanent upgrades by completing them.
The team named the five in a post on its official X account: Weapon Level Up, Headshot Hunter, Untouchable, Survivor and Rampage. The post didn’t include a launch date, reward amounts or completion requirements.

What the names suggest
The studio hasn’t published rules for any of the five. Two of them line up with systems the game already has. Headshots kill zombies faster in Undead Blocks, and weapon progression has been on the roadmap for a long time.
Weapon Level Up is the clearest link. Under the whitepaper updated July 14, 2026, players collect Green ZBUX, which let Survivors level up their Weapon Loadout Digital Assets, trade for Loot Coffins and build what the document calls lasting equity in their digital assets. The announcement doesn’t say whether the new challenge’s upgrades run through that system.
Challenges and the reward economy
Challenges already have a place in the game’s economy. The whitepaper says weekly challenges and tournaments will offer a chance to win Gold ZBUX. That’s the premium in-game currency, and it can be exchanged for select cryptocurrencies or spent on rare and exclusive items and weapons.
Gold ZBUX rewards were set to return on the Avalanche relaunch for players who own Genesis Weapon NFTs. The new post doesn’t mention ZBUX or say whether any of the five challenges pay out in Gold or Green ZBUX.
Roadmap context
Wagyu Games’ relaunch roadmap scheduled new challenges for Q4 2025. That same quarter was supposed to bring more character NFTs, a limited Apocalypse Weapon NFT drop and the Extended Neighborhood map, and the start of work on Genesis and Apocalypse weapon upgrades.
The Q1 2026 plan was to release those weapon upgrades, fully launch the mobile version, develop a battle pass, open an in-game store that takes credit and debit cards and begin development of Squads Mobile. For Q2 2026, the roadmap listed a possible Squads Mobile launch, the Graveyard map, a battle pass expansion with new NFTs and character clothing and accessory NFT drops.
The studio hasn’t said publicly which of those items have shipped.
The Avalanche move
Undead Blocks first launched in 2022 on Ethereum and Immutable. Wagyu Games moved it to Avalanche to improve scalability and performance for the game’s backend and token infrastructure. The $UNDEAD token was to be bridged over as part of the move.
Blackhole, a decentralized exchange, was the relaunch partner. It provided exchange listings, co-marketing and trading competitions. Other planned additions included an NFT marketplace, a rental platform, a stake-to-mint system, a Blood Box reward system and a Music Jukebox.
Later in 2026, the roadmap calls for the Undead Pivot Protocol and Stake-to-Mint platforms, both tied to $UNDEAD utility.
Background
Wagyu Games founder Grant Haseley, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, announced the multiplayer zombie FPS for ImmutableX on Feb. 28, 2023. It’s set in a New York suburb with a deliberately retro look: old-school vehicles, TVs and radios.
Modes at launch included Solo, Squads for two to four players, SpeedRun and Massacre. In early 2023, the game had around 2,500 daily active players. More than 100,000 people played it over one quarter, and a sponsored tournament in Nashville drew more than 7,500 participants competing for a prize pool of over $150,000.
At the time, Haseley said the model was sustainable because players only earn tokens if the game itself is making money, mainly through NFT sales of guns and loot coffins.
