In Brief:

  • Meta Racing (official site), the card-strategy racing game on Solana, said Oct. 28 it is shutting down.
  • Players have until Nov. 15 to unlock pilots and other NFTs, claim staking rewards and move assets to their own wallets.
  • After that date, the team said, any assets that haven’t been withdrawn “will no longer be accessible.”

Meta Racing is shutting down, and players have until Nov. 15 to get their assets out.

The team announced the closure Oct. 28 on X in a post that read “Meta Racing is shutting down 🏁” with a letter attached as an image. The letter opened: “Friends, today we’re sharing news we really didn’t want to post: Meta Racing is shutting down.”

The notice gave no reason for the closure.

The Nov. 15 deadline

The letter’s warning box was headed “Important: withdraw your assets by November 15.” It listed three steps for players: “unlock your pilots and other NFTs;” “claim your staking rewards;” and “transfer all your assets to your own wallet.”

“After November 15, any assets that haven’t been withdrawn will no longer be accessible,” the team wrote.

The letter didn’t say what happens to the game’s servers, its in-game currency or its tournament schedule before the deadline. It also didn’t say whether any part of the game would stay online after Nov. 15.

What the team said

The letter was signed “The Meta Racing Team.” No individual was named.

“Our team started with a simple dream: to build a blockchain game where strategy, calculation and progression matter more than FOMO and speculation,” the team wrote.

It credited players for what the game became. “You, our players, turned that dream into a real story. Your garages, pilots, cards, wins and losses are the true Meta Racing,” the letter said. “Together we built strategies, leveled up cars and pilots, raced and laughed on streams, debated the game and made it better.”

The team said it was leaving “not with sadness, but with gratitude. For every race, every car you built, every stream and every piece of feedback.”

Weeks after a record turnout

The shutdown follows a stretch of activity. Meta Racing held a Game Night tournament on Sept. 3 with a $350 prize pool split among 10 winners. The game said 65 racers entered, an all-time high for the event, and $500 was paid out to players that week.

Races paid rewards in IGT, the in-game currency.

How the game worked

Meta Racing put five players on randomized tracks. Each race opened with a planning phase where players read track conditions, then played ability cards round by round. The X account’s bio reads: “You don’t farm here, you race.”

Players owned three kinds of NFTs: cars, pilots and ability cards. The bio told newcomers to “Get your car, hire a pilot, upgrade your garage.”

The game’s official site set its story in 2174, in a world where “five mega-corporations control the world” and racing is “the last symbol of freedom.”

Roadmap left behind

The roadmap on the site listed an ability card NFT pack mint, Zealy quests and KOL onboarding for Q4 2025, followed by the launch of NFT cars and a whitepaper reveal. The game release, on-chain tournaments and a TGE were slated for Q1 2026. Content updates and a battle pass with themed seasons were planned for Q2 2026.

The @MetaRacing_io account joined X in April 2023 and has about 25,600 followers.

The letter closed on a hint, with no details attached: “The dust on the track will settle, and something new will come into view. Until then, the Meta Racing team says thank you, and see you down the road!”
