Six new designs. One box. You don’t get to pick which one comes home with you.
Japanese toy company RE-MENT has confirmed “Animal Crossing Happy Room 2,” a brand-new run of blind box figures arriving in November of this year. Each box runs 1650 JPY (roughly $10), and the blind box format means you’re buying blind: you know the pool, not the pull.
RE-MENT built its name on miniature models with a level of detail that borders on obsessive, so this isn’t a company phoning in a licensing deal. The designs pull from notable characters in the game along with their favorite haunts, residential and commercial alike.
If RNG isn’t your thing, there’s a way out
You can skip the gamble entirely. A complete six box set will also be available, which means anyone who wants every design for a home collection doesn’t have to buy 14 boxes and end up with five duplicates of the same room.
That’s the sensible option. It’s also the boring one, and part of the appeal here is opening the thing and finding out.
This is a sequel, and the first one set the template
The name tells you what you need to know. Animal Crossing: Happy Room 1 covered Timmy & Tommy in Nook’s Cranny, Isabelle in Resident Services, Brewster in The Roost, plus Marshal’s, Bob’s and Whitney’s rooms.
Solid spread. Shopkeepers, service desks, the coffee guy, and three villager bedrooms. Round two follows the same logic with six fresh designs.
Nintendo keeps feeding the game years later
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has settled into evergreen status for Nintendo, with players still tuning in to see what’s coming down the pipeline. The company has kept obliging, with collaborations alongside other major games and physical products that people genuinely collect.
The most recent was the tie-in with the arrival of Splatoon Raiders, which let you grab themed furniture for the properties on your island through an amiibo. Now the drops swing back toward the tangible.
What’s next for the games is anyone’s guess
Nintendo has stayed quiet about its plans for the Animal Crossing series moving forward. The 3.0 update breathed some new life into proceedings and should tide everyone over for the time being.
But it’s a fairly safe bet that something’s going on behind the scenes at this point. Until then, the closest thing to news is a $10 box you can’t see inside.
