Atia’s Legacy will be multiplatform!
We’re focusing on PC for the next playtest, but both Android and iOS will be supported for the full release.
The post didn’t give a date for the next playtest or a full release date.
From mobile-first to PC
The PC focus reverses the order of the game’s early tests. Those builds went to phones first.
In its AMA recap after Playtest 1, Sky Mavis described Atia’s Legacy as a mobile-first game built for phones rather than a scaled-down PC port. The team said it had internal PC builds for Mac and Windows. But it said a public PC version might launch only if demand justified it.
It also said controller support would come later, once gameplay stabilized.
Three playtests so far
Playtest 1 was an invite-only alpha for 1,000 selected community members. It ran from Sept. 25 to Oct. 2, 2025, and was mobile-only. iOS players joined through TestFlight, and Android players installed an APK.
Playtest 2 went live April 8, 2026, after Sky Mavis pushed it back from a mid-March target to give the team more development time. It stayed on iOS and Android.
That build overhauled combat. Players controlled a single Axie instead of a squad of three, which opened up roles like tank, support and damage dealer. It added five new weapons, new bosses and a risk-it-all extraction dungeon. Players who lost all their HP there lost their equipped items and could have their Axie permanently deleted. They could extract early or push deeper for bigger rewards.
PC first appeared in Playtest 3. The test ran on iOS, Android and PC, with players downloading the game through App.axie and signing in with an email and invite code.
PvP and a paid tournament
Playtest 3 focused entirely on real-time PvP. Sky Mavis said the goal was to introduce the mode and stress-test server latency when large numbers of players queued at once.
Matches put eight players into a five-minute free-for-all. The first to 10 kills, or the player with the best kill-to-death ratio, won.
Sessions ran from July 2 at 04:00 UTC through July 4 at 18:00 UTC. A session for Mystic Axie owners only wrapped up June 30.
The Trial of Eight tournament cost 1 AXS to enter and paid out 2,500 bAXS across three events. The main leaderboard carried 1,500 bAXS. The Kill Race and The Letter Race carried 500 bAXS each.
Entry fees were refundable for players with a valid verified entry who played at least 10 scheduled Playtest 3 matches.
Background
Sky Mavis announced Atia’s Legacy on March 5, 2025. The game is set in Lunacia, and the studio’s first announcement listed it for mobile and PC.
Access to every playtest so far has required an invite code. Sky Mavis has pointed players without one to preregistration, its social channels and the official Axie Discord to hear about future tests.
When the team laid out its Playtest 2 plans, it said it was aiming for a gameplay loop that would hold up over a thousand hours of play, still fun on the 200th hour and not only the second.
