In Brief:
- Stellar integrated Chainlink’s oracle infrastructure on its mainnet, launching on October 14, 2026.
- This allows developers to access verifiable price data for various digital assets, enhancing DeFi capabilities.
- Chainlink’s data tools will be more accessible thanks to Stellar’s commitment under the Chainlink Scale program.
Chainlink Oracles launched on Stellar Mainnet
Stellar’s integration of Chainlink oracles marks a significant step in providing developers with real-time, verifiable market data. The Chainlink Data Feeds and Data Streams are now operational on the Stellar mainnet, facilitating access to pricing data for stablecoins, tokenized equities, and real-world assets.
Stellar currently manages assets estimated between 3.54 billion USD and 4 billion USD. By utilizing Chainlink’s tools, Stellar developers can enhance smart contracts with capabilities for collateral processing, loan-to-value calculations, and automated liquidations in DeFi applications.
Two data products for unique needs
Chainlink deployed two key products for Stellar: Data Feeds and Data Streams. Data Feeds supply regularly updated price data, while Data Streams offer lower latency market data. This combination supports essential DeFi functions, allowing apps to update collateral ratios in real time.
Stellar aims to expand the scope of its applications, with potential use cases including prediction markets and perpetual futures on tokenized stocks, as mentioned by company representatives.
Oracle costs covered through Chainlink Scale
As part of the Chainlink Scale program, Stellar committed to covering oracle costs, making Chainlink’s data more economically viable for developers. This initiative, announced in October 2025, ensures developers can utilize Chainlink’s resources without incurring prohibitive expenses.
While the Scale commitment also involves Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), that feature is not included in this rollout.
Stellar’s expanding ecosystem
Stellar has prioritized payments and tokenized assets, processing billions of transactions. Its smart contract platform, Soroban, launched in February 2024, enabling new DeFi applications. Significant players like Franklin Templeton and Circle utilize the network, highlighting its growing relevance.
Recent activity shows a 25% increase in Real-World Asset (RWA) transfer volume over the past month, alongside a 10% rise in the stablecoin market cap. Previously, the lack of reliable onchain price data limited the practical use of tokenized assets in lending and trading.
Chainlink’s broader role
Chainlink secures a large share of the DeFi sector, facilitating tens of trillions of dollars in onchain transactions. It partners with various financial institutions, including Mastercard and Fidelity International, further solidifying its position in the market.
Market response
Following the announcement, XLM saw a drop of 7.85%, trading between 0.18 USD and 0.19 USD mid-October. LINK was down 3.88%, trading around 12.42 USD.
Implications for web3 gaming
While the immediate focus is on finance, the integration of Chainlink’s reliable data layer is also pertinent for onchain games. Game developers can utilize price feeds for in-game economies, asset valuation, and staking features.
Chainlink already supports various web3 games through its verifiable randomness service, although that feature isn’t included in the current Stellar launch. As Chainlink’s services expand on Stellar, developers on the Soroban platform will gain access to trusted data infrastructure essential for building engaging gaming experiences.
