In Brief:

  • Champz switched on its Champz-O-Ween Halloween season, which runs through Nov. 1.
  • Players have until the season closes to collect limited Halloween items, the team said.
  • The event covers Champz OG, the studio’s original browser RPG, which now runs on Base alongside its newer arena game, Legends of Champz.

Champz’s Halloween season is live. The studio opened Champz-O-Ween on its official X account and told players to collect seasonal gear before the window closes on Nov. 1.

“It’s Alive, It’s Alive! The Champz-0-Ween event is live!” the team posted. “This special season runs through November 1st, get you Halloween Items as fast as you can.”

The post didn’t list specific items, drop rates or rewards.

A nine-day window

The team first billed the event as a “Cinematic Halloween Event” set to run from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1. That gives players nine days to collect seasonal drops before they’re gone.

The launch post also thanked the people behind the game. “We have great appreciation for our community and our CTO dev team and staff,” the team wrote.

It closed with a warning for players heading out: “Stay safe from the Haunts during your exploration,”

Before launch, the team promoted an X Spaces AMA on Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. UTC, pitched as a Halloween AMA with “Alpha Leaks of our New Game for the Champz Ecosystem.”

Not the first Halloween run

Champz has run Halloween content before. The game’s fan wiki changelog lists v1.4.0b, a Halloween update dated Oct. 30, 2023. It added Halloween events, items, enemies and quests, plus an “Explore to Fight” mechanic inside the Halloween quests.

The “exploration” line in this year’s launch post points at that same loop. The team hasn’t said whether the 2026 season reuses the mechanic.

Two games on Base

Champz, short for Champignons of Arborethia, began as a mushroom-themed browser RPG on Ethereum, gated by the $CHAMPZ token. It now calls itself an indie gaming studio on Base and runs two games.

Champz OG is the original RPG, with PvE and PvP battles, guilds, character progression, NFTs and a marketplace. Legends of Champz is a newer battle arena built on fast ghost PvP and King-of-the-Hill play. It uses 20,000 pre-generated Legend NFTs and 400 Throne NFTs.

In Champz OG, characters are NFTs. Every Champ can be minted, and a Champ has to be minted and locked to keep playing.

Token and governance

The studio’s site lists $CHAMPZ as an ERC-20 on Base with a 1 billion supply, all of it circulating. The site also lists 0% tax, locked liquidity and a renounced contract.

The token is used as in-game currency and to buy Legend packs. Twenty percent of Legends transactions are burned, according to the site.

Holders also vote on game changes through DAO polls. In an earlier vote, the team asked players whether Leprechauns should get stronger. “Use your $CHAMPZ token to cast your vote,” the team posted at the time. “This is your chance to decide how #Champz should evolve!”

Team

The studio’s site names Matsta and Rawcat as founders. The core team listed there is Enoch, MaDukery, Foxii and Kocyk, with Morig, RiotX, KW and Virgil on the extended team.

The Halloween season ends Nov. 1.
