The post was light on details. It didn’t list specific content, rewards or changes to gameplay.

Art and theme updates

The team said the event will include both visual and thematic changes to the game.

“Featuring both artistic and thematic updates, Champz-O-Ween is sure to please,” the team said.

It didn’t say whether any of the changes will stay in the game after Nov. 1. And it didn’t say whether the event will add anything tied to the $CHAMPZ token or the game’s NFTs.

AMA set for Oct. 19

Before the event begins, the team will hold an AMA on Monday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. UTC. The visible part of the post cuts off before it says what the session will cover.

That leaves the AMA as the first place players may get a full look at the event before it opens on Oct. 24.

How the game works

Champz, short for Champignons of Arborethia, is a free-to-play browser RPG. Players control mushroom warriors who defend their homeland of Arborethia from evil forces in PvE and PvP battles.

Players log in and build a squad of up to six characters, which the game calls Champz. No NFT is required. Extra characters are sold as NFTs on OpenSea, and the game’s FAQ says players can add up to two Champz NFTs to a squad.

The in-game currency is truffles. Free players can earn them but can’t cash them out. Per the FAQ, a player has to hold at least 25,000 $CHAMPZ to withdraw truffles as USDC. Holding more than 50,000 $CHAMPZ removes the character limit entirely.

Token and governance

$CHAMPZ has contracts on both Ethereum and Base, and the Base contract is labeled the official game token. Each contract has a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens. Because more than one contract exists, players should check the address against the project’s official channels.

Holders vote on game changes through DAO polls on Snapshot. In an earlier vote, the team asked holders whether the game should add more Leprechauns and whether those enemies should get stronger.

“This is your chance to decide how #Champz should evolve!” the team said at the time.

Background

The core team is based in Austria and the United States, and the company is registered in Wyoming, according to the FAQ.

The project has recently described itself as indie games on Base and has added AI agents. It joined the Sibyl Labs Memory Hackathon to bring persistent memory to its AI Arena, where autonomous agents compete for onchain rewards through a mechanic called the Guardian Throne.

In the Guardian Throne, every send raises the price. Each cycle lasts 30 minutes to an hour, and the agent with the longest total hold time wins.
