The post didn’t specify dates, a prize pool or a venue. It named The Sandbox and Minds, the platform Animoca Brands publishes at hellominds.ai, as partners.
Two Animoca properties, one jam
The event pairs The Sandbox, Animoca’s metaverse platform, with Minds, its more recent product line. Borget didn’t detail how the two fit together in the competition.
Game jams are a familiar recruiting tool for The Sandbox. The platform has used timed building contests to pull new creators onto its editor, including a Retro Game Jam and its Hong Kong Creators Day, which drew more than 300 builders, brands and partners.
Minds has run its own Hong Kong programs this year. It co-hosted Build East, a demo day with Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation on July 7 at Hong Kong Science Park, where eight local teams pitched for access to the Minds Investment Programme. Minds also partnered with Yield Guild Games on the vibecode.game game jam, a four-week virtual competition that runs July 13 to Aug. 10.
Borget’s role
Borget is listed as co-founder and global ambassador of The Sandbox. He has spoken at Consensus Hong Kong on Asia’s role in blockchain gaming and the platform’s approach to cultural localization.
He didn’t name the other judges for Creative Minds Jam #1 in the announcement.
The Sandbox and Animoca Brands are both based in Hong Kong. Animoca’s earlier Hong Kong push for The Sandbox included tie-ups with local universities and educational institutions across its Mega City partnerships.
The Sandbox’s earlier Retro Game Jam carried a prize pool of 150,000 SAND.
