Our verdict on BLOCKLORDS
BLOCKLORDS is a medieval-themed strategy MMO in which you run a kingdom rather than a single hero: gathering resources, raising armies, taking territory from other players, and negotiating with them when fighting is the worse option. It sits across Ethereum, Immutable X and Polygon, and the pitch behind that setup is ownership — the heroes, land and items you accumulate are meant to be assets you hold on-chain rather than entries on a private server.
What works about the concept is the choice of genre. Persistent territorial strategy is one of the few designs where player-owned assets genuinely change the stakes, because holdings are contested by other people over long stretches rather than handed out by a loot table, and diplomacy gives the economy somewhere to go beyond trading screens.
The reservations are the ones the genre always carries. Kingdom-builders reward the patient and the constantly logged-in; a newcomer entering an established server faces neighbours who have been compounding for a long time, and multi-chain assets add wallet and bridging friction on top of learning the game.
It suits strategy players who like slow, political, long-horizon competition and are comfortable with crypto wallets. Anyone wanting quick sessions or self-contained matches should look elsewhere.
