What is Devikins?
Devikins is a role-playing game from MoonLabs, described on its site as eldritch fun in Web3. The playable characters, also called Devikins, are tokens on a blockchain, and players collect, breed, grow and battle them. The site mentions a Blockchain Game of the Year award in 2022 without naming who gave it.
How to play
A player hatches Embryos, trains the resulting Devikids into adults and builds a battle team from them. Equipment and weapons raise a team's fighting power, and Chores give rewards and items between fights. There are two ways to fight: a Story Mode and PvP, with the stated goal of becoming the next Overlord. The game can be started for free without buying any character, while Breeding and Mutation require owning characters. Collecting works on its own as well, since the site says you do not have to be a player to hold Devikins. The game is available in English, Spanish, French and Brazilian Portuguese.
Economy and platforms
The in-game currency is Devicoin (DVK), a utility token with a maximum supply of 10 billion, and part of the supply is staked by holders. The site links the DVK contract on Kleverscan, the explorer for the Klever blockchain. Characters come in five rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Mythic and Eldritch, with Eldritch the scarcest. Our verdict
Devikins is a turn-based strategy and creature-collection game built on TRON, where each Devikin exists as an NFT the player owns outright. The loop is familiar to anyone who has played a monster-collector: gather creatures, train and level them, breed for better stock, then field a team against other players. The blockchain layer sits underneath rather than replacing that loop — its real function is the open marketplace, where Devikins can be bought, sold and traded between players instead of being locked to an account.
What that structure gets right is the fit between genre and technology. Turn-based squad battling is one of the few designs where tradable units make sense, because a creature's value is legible in its stats and its training history, and a marketplace gives breeding an actual purpose beyond collection. The weaknesses are the ones inherent to the model. Progression built on breeding and levelling tends to reward whoever arrived first or spent most, and a player-driven economy means the cost of a competitive team is set by other players, not by the developer. TRON also narrows the audience to people already holding a wallet on that chain.
