About FIFA Rivals

What is FIFA Rivals?

FIFA Rivals is a free-to-play mobile football game developed by Mythical Games under an official multi-year FIFA licence, with development support from Bacon Studio. The partnership was announced in November 2024; the game entered regional pre-release in May 2025 and launched globally in June 2025 on iOS and Android, timed around the FIFA Club World Cup. It is an arcade title rather than a simulation, and its digital items run on Mythos Chain, a Polkadot-based network operated by Mythical Games.

How to play FIFA Rivals

Players build and manage an 11-a-side club from collectible player cards representing licensed footballers. Cards come in five rarity tiers — Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythical — and carry six stats: Speed, Dribble, Defend, Shoot, Pass and Explosiveness, with additional formations unlocking as an account levels up. Matches are played either in a turn-based mode, where each side chooses passes, shots and tackles in sequence, or in faster real-time PvP, alongside PvE content tied to live events and tournaments. A Super Mode meter fills during a match and, once triggered, grants temporary stat boosts and abilities such as offside-immune passes. Cards carry contracts that limit how many matches they can play before renewal, and gear — emblems, boots, balls and cosmetic kits — adjusts squad and individual performance.

FIFA Rivals tokenomics & earning

FIFA Rivals does not have a dedicated in-game token. Its economy centres on tradable digital cards and items listed on the Mythical Marketplace, which settles on Mythos Chain; the wider Mythos ecosystem uses the MYTH token for marketplace transactions and governance. Cards are obtained through packs, events, challenges and a season pass, and a card generally becomes tradable once it reaches maximum level, so any earning depends on progression and secondary-market demand rather than scheduled token emissions. Trading is handled inside the game and web marketplace, and does not require prior blockchain experience.

Our verdict

FIFA Rivals carries an official FIFA licence, but structurally it is a collectible card battler wearing football kit. Mythical Games has you assemble an eleven from rarity-tiered player cards rated across six stats, then resolve matches either as a turn-based exchange of passes, tackles and shots or in a faster real-time mode. Super Mode meters and offside-immune passes place it much closer to a mobile card duel than to a simulation.

The licence and the economy's restraint are the strongest things here. There is no dedicated game token and no emissions schedule to defend: cards and gear trade on Mythical's own marketplace, settling on the Polkadot-based Mythos Chain, and a card is worth whatever someone will pay for that footballer. That removes the usual failure mode where a game's currency collapses under its own inflation.

The friction sits elsewhere. Cards carry contracts capping how many matches they can play before renewal, and a card generally has to be levelled to maximum before it becomes tradable at all — so liquidity is something you grind toward, not something you own on opening a pack.

It fits mobile football fans who enjoy squad-building and card progression, and anyone curious about ownership without wallet setup. Sim purists and yield-seekers should look elsewhere.

This is our own editorial assessment. We do not score games — ratings come from players.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start playing FIFA Rivals?
You download the game and sign in with an email-based Mythical account, then build your club from licensed FIFA players and jump straight into matches. There is no separate crypto wallet setup required to begin — the account handles your items for you.
How does FIFA Rivals actually play?
It is an arcade-style football game where you build, level up and manage a squad, then face other players in fast head-to-head matches. Control is simplified — you direct footballers by drawing movement lines rather than juggling complex button combos.
How do players earn in FIFA Rivals?
You earn rewards by competing and progressing, and player cards and cosmetic items come as tradeable digital collectibles. Those items can be bought, sold and traded on the official Mythical marketplace, so value comes from your collection rather than a daily payout.
Does FIFA Rivals have its own token?
FIFA Rivals does not run on a game-specific token of its own; it sits inside the Mythos ecosystem, whose MYTH token underpins transactions across Mythical's marketplace. In-game progression uses ordinary soft currencies, not a token you need to buy first.
Is FIFA Rivals still active and worth playing?
Yes — it is an officially licensed FIFA title from Mythical Games that is live and still being updated. It suits players who want quick, casual football matches with squad-building depth; if you want a full simulation football experience, it is not aiming at that.
