Fableborne
What is Fableborne?
Fableborne is a free-to-play, mobile-first action RPG with base-building at its core, developed by UK-based studio Pixion Games. Set in a fractured fantasy realm called the Shatterlands, it pairs hack-and-slash combat with settlement construction and raiding — a structure the studio has compared to blending Diablo-style action with Clash of Clans-style base defence. The game launched its Web3 layer on Avalanche before migrating to Ronin, the Sky Mavis-operated network, where its token and NFT assets now live. Pixion Games has raised funding across multiple rounds, with backers including Delphi Ventures, Animoca Brands, Yield Guild Games, Sky Mavis and Merit Circle.
How to play Fableborne
Players collect and upgrade heroes, each with distinct abilities, then use them in PvE encounters and in raids against other players. The second half of the loop is construction: you build and fortify your own Kingdom, placing defences that other players attack while you are away. PvP is asynchronous, so leaving your base to raid also exposes it — an intentional risk trade-off rather than real-time matchmaking. Content is organised into timed seasons with leaderboards and events; later seasons added a guild system for cooperative objectives and an Ascendency progression system. Fableborne is distributed through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and can be played without prior blockchain experience.
Fableborne tokenomics & earning
The game's currency is $POWER, which held its token generation event on 5 December 2025 with a fixed total supply of one billion. Pixion Games positions $POWER as a multi-game ecosystem currency intended for its future titles as well, and as the gas token of its Power Protocol. In Fableborne, $POWER is used to purchase Diamonds, access guild bounties and enter premium events. A separate Fableborne Kingdoms NFT collection allows holders to stake NFTs for daily rewards tied to performance. Earlier progression ran through play-to-airdrop seasons, one of which drew more than 100,000 participants.

Our verdict on Fableborne
Fableborne is two familiar mobile genres stapled together: an isometric hack-and-slash where you level a roster of heroes, and an asynchronous base-builder where the kingdom you fortify gets raided while you are offline. Pixion Games, a UK studio staffed with console veterans, has been building it since 2020 on roughly $12.4 million of funding, and the Web3 layer moved from Avalanche to Ronin ahead of the $POWER token generation event in December 2025.
The tension in that loop is the strongest idea here. Every raid you launch leaves your own defences exposed, so layout experiments matter as much as hero power, and seasonal resets stop leaderboards calcifying. Combat is readable on a phone, and the on-chain parts are genuinely optional — you can install from an app store and never touch a wallet.
Pacing is the weak point. Upgrade costs escalate steeply, with guild content and Ascendency progression sitting behind that wall, and $POWER's role in buying Diamonds, guild bounties and premium events puts spenders on a visibly shorter path. Kingdoms NFT staking pays holders for rarity and tier rather than for playing.
It suits players who enjoy raid-and-defend strategy loops and will commit to a full season; anyone wanting a story-driven RPG should look elsewhere.
