Our verdict on RuneHero
RuneHero is a web3 massively multiplayer action RPG set in Herud, a world built around rune magic. In practice it reads as a dungeon crawler rather than a marketplace with a game attached: you pick a hero class, run dungeons and bosses, and collect Runes that reshape a skill tree instead of simply stacking stats. A multi-class roster covers burst damage, sustained DPS and survivability, with a healer-damage hybrid added during beta.
The more distinctive piece is Outland, a PvEvP zone where you hunt monsters and mine rare Aetherite while other players hunt you, and where loot only counts if you extract alive. That extraction pressure, alongside ranked Arenas, clans and battlefields, gives the game a shape beyond token emissions.
Less settled is the chain and economy story. The project built on Immutable and later expanded into the Sei ecosystem, and from the second closed beta onward Arcane Crystal NFTs are required to enter dungeons and claim loot — a purchase standing between a curious player and the content. It remains in closed testing, so what exists is a work in progress, not a finished release.
Suited to ARPG players who enjoy extraction risk and accept an unfinished, NFT-gated beta.
