In Brief:

  • HYTOPIA has fully translated the WORLDS browser alpha into Chinese (Simplified), Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese.
  • The team said French and German support is “coming soon.”
  • The update arrives days after WORLDS opened to the public on Oct. 17, part of the studio’s return to its NFT Worlds roots.

HYTOPIA has added six languages to the WORLDS alpha, days after the browser game opened to the public.

Players at worldsalpha.com can now run the game fully translated into Chinese (Simplified), Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese, the team said in a post on X. “French & German support coming soon!” the post said. The team didn’t give a date for either.

English was the only language mentioned at the public launch.

A public alpha, one week old

WORLDS went public on Oct. 17. Two days earlier, HYTOPIA technical co-founder ArkDev had posted that the alpha would open within 24 hours.

The launch post framed the game as a reset. “In 2021 we started as NFT Worlds. Then we became HYTOPIA. It’s time we go back to our roots,” the team said. It called WORLDS “the original NFT Worlds vision, built from the ground up by us. No Minecraft baggage.”

No date has been given for WORLDS to leave alpha.

What’s in the build

WORLDS is an exploration and crafting RPG built around a permanent home world. Players craft and store gear at home, then head out on expeditions to gather resources. A guide and a caravan offer different expeditions, and each carries its own level of risk and reward.

Environments include caves, underwater grottos, floating islands, volcanic areas, buried labyrinths, ruined aqueducts and fortresses. The skill list covers mining, woodcutting, crafting, cooking, alchemy, climbing and exploration.

Combat uses swords, bows, armor, enchanted equipment and consumable tonics. Enemies include creatures, skeletons, golems and bosses.

Travelers met on expeditions may ask for help. Those who get it can move into a player’s home and hand over resources every day. Open trips cap at four players, and party members can visit each other’s homes.

The build also sets out the penalties for leaving an expedition early, and it handles disconnects and party interactions better.

Whitelist tied to a possible mint

Early testers could qualify for a whitelist if the team goes ahead with a future free mint. HYTOPIA hasn’t confirmed that a mint will happen.

The alpha announcement also didn’t give any details on how the TOPIA token connects to WORLDS.

From Minecraft to its own engine

NFT Worlds launched in October 2021 as a web3 layer on top of Minecraft. Mojang banned blockchain integration in Minecraft in July 2022, and the project rebranded as HYTOPIA and moved to its own engine. Delphi Digital had invested $3 million in the project.

The Worlds NFT collection, now sold as TOPIA Worlds, has since moved from Polygon to Arbitrum.

HYTOPIA then spent its next phase building a platform for games made by outside developers. A platform alpha shipped in early 2025, and later AI tools let creators build maps and add enemies and scoring in a single session.

In September, ArkDev said that approach had failed and proposed that the team build a game of its own instead. WORLDS is that game, running on HYTOPIA’s own technology.

The launch post’s last line on the subject read: “No Minecraft baggage.”
