In Brief:
- Illuvium pushed Arena patch 1.17.12 live, its latest balance-only update.
- Stage 3 Lynxes gain increased permanent affinity stat-stacking per Omega cast across all types, and Colossus loses Thorns on taunt in favor of a team-wide effect.
- The patch lands roughly three weeks after 1.17.11 and continues a release run the studio describes as a deliberate balance cadence.
Illuvium pushed Arena patch 1.17.12 live, raising Stage 3 Lynx scaling and stripping Thorns out of the Colossus taunt.
Stage 3 Lynxes now stack more permanent affinity stats per Omega cast, and the increase applies across all affinity types rather than a subset.

We are continuing our balance cadence with another round of updates to shake up the meta:

Colossus took the structural change. Thorns on taunt is gone, replaced with a team-wide effect.
“We are continuing our balance cadence with another round of updates to shake up the meta,” Illuvium said in the announcement.
Lynx builds on a June buff
The Lynx adjustment stacks on top of 1.17.10, the June 9 patch that introduced permanent affinity stat-stacking per Omega cast on Stage 3 Lynxes in the first place. That release also reworked the Phantom, Bloom, Revenant and Templar synergies and dialed back bot difficulty below a 1280 rating.
1.17.12 raises the rate rather than changing the mechanic. Omegas fire once a unit banks enough energy, and affinities govern how fast and how hard those casts land, so a stacking multiplier compounds over the length of a round.
Colossus trimmed again
Colossus has absorbed repeated cuts. Patch 1.10.0 reduced its max health bonus from 35/50/70% to 20/30/45%. Patch 1.11.0 cut it again, to 18/26/40%, and stretched taunt cadence from six seconds to eight.
Thorns has been on the balance team’s list before. WaterBuffalo Thorns went from 20/25/30 to 15/20/30 in the same 1.11.0 pass.
A tight release schedule
1.17.12 follows 1.17.11, published Aug. 3. Patches 1.17.8, 1.17.9 and 1.17.10 all landed together on June 9, with 1.17.7 arriving May 18.
The line opened with 1.17.0, a simplification pass that rewrote Omega descriptions, removed secondary effects, changed synergies across classes, affinities and composites, cut and simplified Forge augments and simplified weapon descriptions.
Bigger structural work came earlier in the 1.x cycle. Update 1.16.0 added full Arena localization, merged the Leviathan and Ranked queues into a single Ranked queue and shipped 10 new drone augments.
The meta the studio has been chasing
Recent patches have gone after specific dominant lines rather than broad system changes. 1.17.4 targeted Air, Fighter and Behemoth compositions, buffed underperforming Water synergies and rebalanced several augments toward percentage-based scaling instead of flat increases.
1.17.5 went after Frost, Harbinger and Mud, and toned down Elk (Ador/Adoredo/Adorius), Penguin (SlaSlashin) and Mammoth (Mah’mu/Mah’th/Mah’mut). It also temporarily removed Ascendant mode.
That same patch fixed a Leviathan bug in which Illuvials generated more energy from damage taken than intended. The corrected rate is one energy per 40 damage.
