In Brief:

  • Outer Ring (official site) MMO has previewed its next content update, which lists extreme desert PvP, loot stealing, new bosses and a new mission system.
  • The update also adds new abilities and weapon skills plus equipment storage chests. The team hasn’t given a release date.
  • The game is in Beta 0.1.0. Its $BG token runs on SKALE for gameplay and Base for liquidity, and holders who converted GQ are in a vesting window that runs from July to December 2026.

Outer Ring GQ $0.00000485 0% MMO is adding desert PvP and loot stealing to its next update, the studio said in a post on X.

The post lists six additions: “Extreme Desert PvP,” “Loot Stealing,” “New Bosses,” “New Mission System,” “New Abilities & Weapon Skills” and “Equipment Storage Chests.” It doesn’t give dates, patch notes or details on how any of the systems will work.

What the team has said

The announcement was short. “The next chapter of #OuterRingMMO is taking shape!” the team said, adding, “The danger is just beginning!”

It’s unclear how loot stealing will work, including whether it applies only in the desert PvP zone. The post also doesn’t say whether gear lost that way includes tokenized items. And there’s no word on what goes into the storage chests or whether they’re tied to the player’s wallet.

A familiar map

The desert isn’t new to Outer Ring. In December 2023, during pre-alpha, the studio added Desert Outpost, which it called “our challenging new PvP map for 4-6 players.” Before that, PvP ran on the Dead Prison and Fungal Forest maps.

The desert is now part of the open world on the planet Fanet. A September post invited players to roam the desert along with the Fungal Forest and Caustic Fen, but that post was about exploration, not combat.

Recent patches

This preview follows a run of updates. The beta went live on Aug. 24 and added a Temple zone, and the studio promoted “the biggest update of the season” for Sept. 30.

Before the desert PvP preview, the team said its next patch would bring “fixes for your gear, trading and matches, alongside new tournament features.” It didn’t give a release date for that patch either, and the latest post doesn’t say whether the two are the same update.

Earlier, in April, the official account promoted a new build that covered PvP, PvE, exploration and multiplayer. The studio has said its longer-term plans include a full persistent open world, new regions of the Ring and larger faction wars.

The token side

SOREDI Games develops Outer Ring as part of its Blink Galaxy ecosystem. Gameplay runs on SKALE and liquidity sits on Base, with $BG as the governance token. Exocredits (EXO) and Galactic Quadrants (GQ) are the in-game currencies.

GQ converts to BG at a base rate of 5 GQ to 1 BG, with the rate adjusted monthly based on market prices. Converted tokens vest linearly from July through December 2026. The token generation event was scheduled for Dec. 1, 2025, ahead of a mainnet launch on Jan. 1, 2026.

The game has more than 37,000 tokenized items.

The game

Outer Ring is a free-to-play sci-fi shooter built in Unreal Engine 5 for Windows 10 and later. Players pick from five playable factions, and the modes include battle royale, arenas, dungeons and missions. Locations include the Great Silver City and Fanet, and crafting runs through the Galactic Foundry.

The studio ended its post with a question for players: “Are YOU ready for what’s coming?”
