In Brief:
- Ronin is asking users and creators from Abstract to move to its network before the Ethereum layer 2 shuts down Dec. 15, 2026.
- Ronin said a creator program update is coming for current and new creators on the chain, and it’s asking creators hit by the shutdown to share their work.
- Abstract had more than 400,000 users and 144-plus apps. About $48 million in assets were still on the chain shortly before the shutdown was announced, according to L2BEAT data.
Ronin is going after users and creators from Abstract, the Ethereum layer 2 that Igloo Inc. plans to shut down Dec. 15.
“Abstract onboarded legions of people to our industry,” Ronin said in a post on X. “If you’re one of them, you may be wondering where to move your funds.”
Creators affected by this shutdown: we want to support you.

The post went on: “Bridge to Ronin and discover the home of Web3 gaming, AI-powered builders, and Axie Infinity (official site).”
Creator program update
In a follow-up, Ronin spoke to creators directly.
“Creators affected by this shutdown: we want to support you,” Ronin said. “Share your favorite piece of content below.”
The network said “a creator program update is on the way for current and new creators on Ronin” and linked to creators.roninchain.com. It didn’t give a date for the update or say what would change.
Abstract’s deadline
Abstract announced the closure on X on Oct. 6, almost three years after work on the chain began. The network will stop operating Dec. 15, 2026.
Users can move assets through the Migration Hub at migrate.abs.xyz or the native bridge at native-bridge.abs.xyz. Native bridge transfers take about three hours.
“Any users that do not migrate their assets by this date will lose access to their funds,” the project said. It hasn’t announced an extension. Abstract has also told users to ignore unofficial migration links and impersonation attempts.
The team said it would help third-party apps migrate to other networks during the wind-down.
Why Igloo is pulling the plug
Abstract said a chain built only around consumer crypto couldn’t sustain itself. It pointed to thin liquidity, a limited DeFi ecosystem, weak institutional crossover and a smaller budget than competitors.
Igloo CEO Luca Netz said the company had funded Abstract for the past 18 months and lost “tens of millions of dollars” doing so.
Igloo won’t launch an Abstract token to keep the network running. It’s moving its resources to Pudgy Penguins PENGU $0.007657 ▼ -2.8%, the Pudgy NFTs and PENGU.
What’s leaving the chain
Abstract onboarded more than 400,000 users and over 144 applications and processed more than 300 million transactions. Disney and Red Bull Racing both used the chain.
Some of Abstract's games are moving their assets to Ethereum mainnet or to other networks before the deadline. Users who never bridged anything to Abstract aren’t affected.
Ronin’s own wind-down
Ronin's pitch comes as it closes one of its own products. Its Waypoint keyless wallet shuts down for good when a final grace period ends at 15:00 UTC on Oct. 31, 2026.
That grace period only covers users who had already reported migration problems on X, Discord or through a support ticket.
