Sorare launches new competition
Sorare has unveiled the Inferno Edition, linking the new Champions’ Inferno competition with rewards reaching up to 5,000 USD. The competition introduces two Hot Streak boards—one for Limited and one for Rare cards.
The most significant change allows managers to start lineups with three Classic cards, up from the usual single Classic card limit in In Season competitions. This adjustment aims to reintegrate Classic card collections into gameplay.
Simplified Hot Streak boards
The Inferno cards are set up in four steps, a departure from the longer formats typically seen in Hot Streak competitions. At Step 1, managers need just two Inferno cards, while the following steps require progressively more Inferno cards alongside Classic options. By lowering the entry barrier, the format encourages broader participation and provides a role for older Classic cards that might otherwise be sidelined.
League participation focused on real matches
The Champions’ Inferno encompasses players from five leagues: Bundesliga, LALIGA EA SPORTS, Ligue 1, English league players, and Serie A, the latter using Classic cards. Only league matches contribute to scoring, excluding European competitions.
A selection of Ligue 1 players, including Florian Thauvin and Ethan Mbappé, are featured in promotional cards for this edition.
Auction phase and Flash Sales
Inferno Edition cards are available through Auctions until the evening of October 6. Each manager may purchase up to five Limited cards and one Rare card during this phase. Following the auction, cards will be sold in Flash Sales for those who didn’t secure them initially. The purchasing cap is designed to distribute cards among more managers.
Matchdays and competition timeline
The Champions’ Inferno spans three league matchdays, concluding on October 27. Managers are tasked with completing the four-step challenge over roughly three weeks while optimizing their lineups for optimal scoring.
Reassessing Classic cards
The ability to include three Classic cards marks an important shift, as Classic cards have seen limited use since the start of the Sorare 27 season. This change not only revives these collections but also preserves demand for the new Inferno Edition cards by encouraging managers to pursue more Inferno cards as they advance through the steps.
Sorare’s format continues to evolve, following recent events like European Nations competitions and the Clue Hunt in Game Week 19. The interaction and competition structure enables a diverse range of play and strategy.
