In Brief:

  • Splinterlands (official site)’ Oct. 6 weekly release fixed an issue with playing Exemplars in Modern Brackets and lowered the Modern win streak cutoff from 3,700 rating to 3,000.
  • The patch also reworks the Splintervibes player, removes the out-of-stock card tile from the daily wheel spin and changes how rented and delegated cards show up in Survival.
  • It comes one week after Modern Ranked Brackets went live with six brackets and nine divisions each.

Splinterlands SPS $0.004287 ▼ -1.7% shipped a round of fixes for its new Modern Brackets format on Oct. 6, including a fix for an issue with playing an Exemplar in bracket matches.

The same release lowered the rating cutoff for win streaks in Modern from 3,700 to 3,000. The release notes tie the change to “the changes to Modern.”

“This week’s release brings several Modern Brackets fixes and improvements, along with updates to Splintervibes, Survival, the Daily Wheel, and more!” Splinterlands said in a post on X.

Bracket cleanup

Most of the week’s work went into display problems in the new format. The team fixed a number of broken Modern badge animations in the lobby. It also fixed a bug that showed Division 2 in some places when a player was actually in Division 1.

Modern top battles results were also fixed.

There’s a new restriction too. Cards with a bracket cooldown can’t be transferred or delegated back to the account that holds the cooldown.

Two more fixes went out as hotfixes before the full release. One covered Modern Brackets display issues, including reward points not showing on the history summary. The other dealt with how advancement claims left over from last season were displayed.

Splintervibes and the lobby

The studio reworked the Splintervibes player UI and split it out from the volume controls. The app bar’s volume options were expanded, and players now get more controls while a Splintervibes track is playing.

Splinterlands removed the out-of-stock card tile from the daily wheel spin. It also updated the notification players get when a player-designed sticker arrives by transfer.

Survival changes

Cards that a player has rented or delegated out no longer count toward the depleted card total in the Survival section of the lobby. The Survival Enabled/Disabled icon and tooltip for rented cards were also cleaned up.

How Modern Brackets work

Splinterlands launched bracket-based Modern ranked play in its Sept. 30 release, after a player vote. “You voted for it. Modern Ranked Brackets arrive this upcoming season!” Splinterlands said in its announcement on X.

There are six brackets: Novice, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Champion. Each one restricts the card levels players can use. Every bracket has nine divisions, starting at 0 rating and going up in steps of 500 to 4,000.

Players can reset their bracket until they receive advancement rewards. But any card played in a bracket stays locked to that account until the season ends. It can’t be sold or traded while the cooldown is active.

Survival got the bracket treatment first. In a June 30 update, Survival Brackets one through five switched to Modern and Bracket 6 became Wild. Survival ratings now reset the same way ranked ratings do, provided a player stays in the same bracket from one season to the next.

Splinterlands told players to give themselves time with the new format.

“Expect a little ‘wait, how does this work?’ at first. Take your time, learn the ropes, and get ready to battle,” Splinterlands said.
