In Brief:
- Splinterlands launches its first Escalation Conflict, “A Call to Arms: Snot on My Watch.”
- Players can deploy Mage Wagons and stake assets for a chance at exclusive rewards, including the first Escalation Archon.
- The conflict cycle lasts about 30 days, focusing on player contribution and engagement.
Escalation Conflict begins
Splinterlands has initiated the first Escalation Conflict titled “A Call to Arms: Snot on My Watch.” This event invites players to deploy Mage Wagons and stake cards toward the Meredrool, a new green sludge creature threatening the Shimmering Coasts. Rewards will be based on contributions during the conflict.
The opening cycle is set for roughly 30 days, with a countdown timer at launch tracking contributions. Players who stake assets will accumulate points, which will determine their standing on the leaderboard once the timer ends.
The Escalation framework rewards active players rather than passive holders. By purchasing Mage Wagons—costing 10,000 DEC or 10,000 Credits—players can stake cards and packs to earn points. Contributions are influenced by the quality and rarity of the cards, with higher-quality cards yielding better ranks.
Each Mage Wagon supports up to five cards and 100 packs but is soulbound, restricting transfer, rental, or sale. Players can also craft Wagon Kits in the Artisan Quarter using specific resources.
Cooldowns are implemented to manage asset flow, including a 15-minute cooldown for adding cards and a 60-minute cooldown for bulk actions. Cards can still participate in brawls or tournaments while staked but cannot be traded or sold.
Details on the Escalation mini-set
Previously, the Escalation mini-set went on pre-sale, adding 43 new cards across various rarities. Packs, priced at 5 USD, can be bought with DEC, Credits, or SPS. The drop rates are set at 75.2% for common cards, 20% for rare, 4% for epic, 0.8% for legendary, and 2% for gold foil cards.
The system encourages players to utilize the newest cards while incorporating older assets from previous sets like Rebellion.
About Splinterlands
As one of the oldest web3 games, Splinterlands features collectible card battles and operates on the Hive blockchain. Players can start for free in Frontier Mode or purchase a Spellbook for full access to marketplace features. The game supports various play modes, including brawls and tournaments.
Regular updates include new characters and adjustments to gameplay mechanics, ensuring a dynamic experience for players. Recent notes confirm the introduction of the Escalation mini-set and other enhancements aimed at improving matchmaking and gameplay efficiency.
Economic implications of the conflicts
The Conflicts system serves as a significant economic mechanism for Splinterlands. Spending tokens in these events helps to reduce supply in the broader economy while rewarding active gameplay. The Escalation series introduces exclusive rewards and reinforces the participatory nature of the game, with each chapter contributing to ongoing narrative developments.
Players can still engage during the current chapter, maximizing their contributions to reach the first Archon. As the studio aptly stated, “the war effort has begun.”
