Element Guide

What each element's cards actually look like, computed from the data.

No login

Splinterlands cards belong to an element: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death or Dragon, plus Neutral cards any team can use. Instead of describing them from memory, this guide measures them: how many cards each element has, the average mana cost and level 1 stats of its monsters, and the abilities that show up most. The numbers are computed in your browser from the game's card file. Open the full list in the Card Database; new here? Read the Beginner Guide or the Splinterlands Glossary. Averages are over monsters only, at level 1. "Rarity mix" counts common / rare / epic / legendary cards of all types.

How it works

  • Every card in the card file has a colour. We read it as red Fire, blue Water, green Earth, white Life, black Death, gold Dragon and gray Neutral.
  • Averages use each monster's level 1 numbers, so a high-level card is not mistaken for a stronger element. Summoners, spells, towers and heroes are counted in "Cards" but not in the averages.
  • An ability is counted once per card even if it appears at several levels.
  • These are descriptions of the card pool. They do not rank elements: team building, rulesets and mana caps decide battles.

FAQ

What are the Splinterlands elements?

Fire (red), Water (blue), Earth (green), Life (white), Death (black) and Dragon (gold), plus Neutral (gray) cards that fit any team.

How are these averages calculated?

From level 1 stats of every monster in the card file for that element. Summoners and spells are counted separately and left out of the averages.

Does a high average attack make an element better?

No. Averages describe a card pool, not how a team wins. Rulesets, mana cap and card level change results.

Which element has the most cards?

The table shows the live counts. They shift as new sets release.
