The last time U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs took in this much money in a single day, bitcoin was printing a record high. On Monday they did it again, with the price sitting roughly $41,000 below that peak.
The funds registered a net inflow of $998.95 million, the largest since Oct. 6, 2025. That was the day bitcoin hit a record of roughly $126,200. Monday’s haul was also the ninth-largest since the ETFs began trading on Jan. 11, 2024.
Bitcoin BTC is trading at $85,198.67 and rising.
BlackRock led, but it wasn’t alone
BlackRock’s IBIT took the biggest share at $381.37 million. Ark’s ARKB followed with $289.12 million and Fidelity’s FBTC added $238.84 million. Three issuers splitting the day that evenly is a broader bid than a single fund carrying the number.
Monday also closed the first three-day streak of gains in two weeks. The timing is what stands out. Bitcoin had just absorbed a one-two punch of a failed Senate cloture vote on the Clarity Act and a Fed interest-rate increase, and institutions bought anyway.
September is now on the board
The inflow pushes the month-to-date tally to $1.31 billion. That follows August’s $3.52 billion. Both figures land against a backdrop of fiscal debt concerns across the advanced world, which hasn’t slowed the money coming into these products.
The price has done its part. Bitcoin is up 44% to $85,000 this quarter, and it has outperformed every other major asset over that stretch, gold included.
The number bulls don’t quote
Zoom out to the full year and the picture is less flattering. Spot ETFs are still down $450 million on a year-to-date basis, even after Monday’s near-billion.
So a single day at the ninth-largest inflow ever hasn’t erased the outflows that came before it. It has narrowed the gap, nothing more.
What it does confirm is that the buyers who showed up at $126,200 are showing up again at $85,000, after a rate hike and a legislative stall that could have sent them the other way.
Whether that turns the year-to-date figure positive depends on whether Monday was a spike or the start of a run. The three-day streak says run. The $450 million hole says the streak needs to last.
