The Sandbox said Saturday that its AI game creation platform, The Sandbox Studio, produced more than 100 games from more than 100 handpicked creators across 3.5 months of closed alpha and beta testing.
The Oct. 3 update on X listed eight product releases and four game jams over the period. “Public launch in October,” the company said, directing would-be users to a waitlist at create.sandbox.game.

Integrations and distribution
The Sandbox named Meshy and Scenario as partners and integrations, adding “+ more soon.” Both tools generate 3D and visual assets from prompts. The Sandbox's creator hub lists Meshy, Scenario and Tripo as options for turning prompts into rigged, textured 3D character models.
The company described Studio’s tech stack as open, listing Codex, Claude Code and Gemini. At its June announcement, The Sandbox said creators could bring their own AI tools, naming Cursor, Claude Code and OpenAI Codex.
Distribution covers web, mobile and Telegram, the company said. Earlier, The Sandbox said games could ship to desktop, mobile web and Telegram Mini Apps, with Steam, mobile app stores and YouTube Playables among the platforms it planned to add over time.
From alpha to beta
Access was tight from the start. More than 12,000 people applied for the alpha, and about 30 creators were admitted in the first phase. The Sandbox said it would add up to 10 creators a week.
Admitted creators came with experience on Roblox, Unity and Unreal Engine, and many had used AI coding assistants such as OpenAI Codex. During the alpha, The Sandbox moved sign-in to a new Creator Portal tied to Sandbox accounts, reducing its reliance on GitHub.
The alpha roadmap included groundwork for multiplayer, leaderboard services, asset collections, character rigging and better support for Agent Nova, Studio’s built-in AI assistant.
Beta access opened Aug. 12. Applicants who weren’t picked for the alpha were eligible to register.
Game jams
The first jam, open only to alpha creators, ran July 2-31 with a $5,000 prize pool split among the top five submissions. The top prize was $2,500. Winners were announced Aug. 7.
The Beta Creator Game Jam carried a $7,500 prize pool and the theme “Overgrown.” Larry Hryb, who spent 15 years as the public face of Xbox, served as lead judge. The creator hub now shows a Halloween Game Jam as live.
In August, The Sandbox added a section on sandbox.game featuring games built with Studio. One early beta title, Ricochet Rascals, is a 3D arena brawler for up to six players.
How Studio works
The Sandbox announced Studio on June 9. It bundles a game engine, editor, AI layer, monetization tooling and a publishing pipeline, pairing a desktop SDK and visual editor with a built-in AI coding agent.
The company said creators could get a live, published multiplayer game running in under two hours. Studio shipped with six production-ready TypeScript templates, including first-person shooters, vehicle simulators and side-scrollers, plus more than 300,000 voxel assets. Creators aren’t required to use the voxel style.
Since launch, the templates have gotten updated lighting and post-processing. They now cover first-person shooters, third-person games, side-scrollers, vehicles, virtual reality and free-camera experiences.
The Sandbox said it will take a small revenue share from games that monetize players. It plans to build SAND into the platform’s monetization system.
The company previously said Studio would open to everyone in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Beta winners
Gary: Patient Zero topped the beta jam winners list on sandbox.game. It’s a tower defense game in which players fight an infection from inside Gary’s body.
Living Dungeon, Omniscient and Farmadillo rounded out the list. The Sandbox described Farmadillo as “a farming sim crossed with pinball & tower defense gameplay.”
