The Sandbox (official site) has opened a $5,000 Game Creator Bounty that pays developers $50 for each game they build around a favourite content creator. The campaign runs from 4 to 16 November. Rewards go to up to 100 eligible submissions, first come, first served.

Each developer can enter two games, so the most anyone can earn is $100. Every entry is reviewed and has to be approved. Finishing the steps does not guarantee payment.

What the games need to be

The brief asks developers to turn a well-known personality’s interests, content and community into an original game. The Sandbox SAND $0.04237 ▼ -8.3%’s suggestions include Casey Neistat skating through New York, dodging taxis and collecting cameras, or a MrBeast game built around more and more ridiculous challenges.

Entries have to work properly, play well on mobile and be reachable through a public link. Developers also have to upload thumbnails and game metadata to The Sandbox’s creation portal.

The promotion step

Publishing the game is only half the job. Each entrant must post on X or TikTok with gameplay footage, a direct link to the game and tags for both The Sandbox and the creator the game is about. The game and the post are then submitted through a Google form. A Discord channel posts campaign updates and shows how many reward slots are left.

What the rules exclude

The rules ban political campaigning, harmful or defamatory content, broken games and anything that infringes intellectual property rights. Developers are responsible for respecting the rights of the people they feature. Being invited to make a game about a creator does not give anyone permission to use that person’s protected material.

Who gets the better deal

The bounty ties making a game directly to marketing it. For developers, the pay is small. AI tools can shorten development time, but $50 still doesn’t cover much of the work of building, testing and promoting a game.

The Sandbox gets more out of it. If all 100 slots fill, the platform ends up with 100 games plus the promotional videos and posts that go with them, and each one can link the platform to an existing creator and that creator’s followers. Because entrants have to tag the creators, those creators may find the games and share them.

The program also fits The Sandbox's plans for its Sandbox Studio AI tools. The company says the tools will let anyone make complex games with its assets, including NFTs, and will support SAND token payments.
