Upland adds driveways to its Core Decor Catalog

Upland switched on driveways this week, adding a new category to the property-customization system it calls the Core Decor Catalog.

Players can pick from three driveway options, the company said in a post on X. Upland pitched the release as a way to change the look of properties faster, and it framed driveways as the first of several foundational decor pieces still to come.

“More driveways are coming over time, with pathways, pergolas, and additional foundational decor on the way,” the company said.

Part of a longer visual push

The driveways slot into a broader effort to change how Upland looks. That work started in December 2025, when the game added roads across its opened cities and began rolling out weather and a reworked color palette meant to give the map a more consistent feel.

Property decor has been one of the more active parts of the game over the past year. Upland ran a string of build competitions in 2025 and 2026, including a Harvest Season challenge in the fall and a Wonderland Decor Challenge in January that put 1,000,000 UPX on the line and judged entries on how they looked in the game’s point-of-view mode.

The Core Decor Catalog is where those building blocks live. It covers map assets such as decor, fixtures and statues, along with structure ornaments and vehicles, all rendered as 3D items placed on properties that map to real-world addresses.

How the pieces get made

Decor items in Upland are manufactured by staking Sparklet, the game’s utility token. Sparklet is an ERC-20 token that bridges to and from EOS, the chain Upland has run on since it launched in 2019. In June 2024 the game converted all of its older Spark token to Sparklet at a rate of 1 to 1,000.

Building times run on a system Upland measures in Spark hours, and the amount of Sparklet needed to complete a structure or item can change each quarter. Upland didn’t say what driveways cost to build or how long they take.

Fully decorated properties can now be sold as bundles, a marketplace feature Upland added in 2025 that lets a buyer pick up a finished build rather than assembling one asset by asset.

Background

Upland is a virtual property game in which players buy, trade and develop parcels tied to real addresses across dozens of replica cities. UPX, its in-game currency, is pegged at 1,000 UPX to $1 and is bought through the game rather than traded on exchanges. Sparklet, backed by Animoca, trades publicly and lists on exchanges including Bitget.

The game lets eligible players cash properties out to U.S. dollars through a partnership with Tilia Pay, a Linden Lab subsidiary. Upland has said players have earned more than $20 million to date.

Driveways are live now. Pathways and pergolas aren’t.
