The “This Guy” emote leaves Red Dead Online after September 14. That’s your window. Complete one Moonshiner Sale and it’s yours, and if you don’t, the weekly reward flips to the Black Woodland Gloves on the 15th and the emote goes back in the vault.
Rockstar posted the full breakdown of the latest Red Dead Online event on its official website, and the whole thing leans hard on moonshining.
The moonshine math is unusually generous
Moonshiner Story Missions are paying triple for the entire month of September. That’s 3X RDO$, 3X Role XP and 3X XP, which is the kind of multiplier that turns a grind you’ve been putting off into an afternoon.
Free Roam Missions are also running 3X RDO$ and XP this month. So is the Featured Series, with Lemoyne in the rotation until September 14, when Hardcore Last Stand takes over.
Win the Featured Series and you walk away with the tan Porter Jacket. Clear any three Daily Challenges and the black and red Carbow Double Bandolier is yours.
Some of it you get for doing nothing
Moonshiners who simply log in and play this month pick up the Emerald Ranch and Falls Moonshiner Bar Photographs. Level 50 Gunslingers get the Zapatero Outfit and the Golden Spirit Buckle on the same terms, which is to say: show up, press start, collect.
The community-inspired outfit is live now too, claimable for free from the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue through October 5. That one’s got a longer runway, so it’s the least urgent thing on this list.
Why Rockstar keeps feeding the multiplayer
Red Dead Redemption 2 is closing in on 10 years old and people still log in constantly. If you’ve been in Arthur’s boots since launch, you’ve probably wrung the single-player dry.
Which is the gap Red Dead Online fills. Rockstar never gave the campaign any DLC, and it’s been steady about propping up the multiplayer modes instead. Whether that’s generosity or a consolation prize depends on how badly you wanted that story expansion.
The part nobody wants to talk about
The franchise’s future is murkier than fans would like. GTA VI is where Rockstar’s attention sits right now, and that’s understandable.
Red Dead Redemption was built as a two-part story. A third game might simply not exist in anyone’s plans.
But it’s a hugely successful IP, and walking away from it entirely would be strange business. Don’t expect Rockstar to say anything about it soon.
In the meantime, there’s a cowboy in a server somewhere waiting on a moonshine sale, and roughly two days left to earn the right to point at him.
