Nintendo’s Australian store did the thing Nintendo has spent three months refusing to do. It put a number on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake.

The listing, shared on X earlier today, has the game at a discounted $94.95 AUD, with the full price sitting at $109.95 AUD. Nothing’s shown up on the eStore yet. But the Australian numbers are enough to reverse-engineer the rest of the world.

For UK players, that’s most likely £49.99. In the US, $59.99.

Why $59.99 stings for some people

It isn’t a shocking figure. It’s also not the figure a lot of people were quietly hoping for, given this is a remake of an N64 game. And these are digital prices only, so physical copies may cost more.

That gap is exactly what set off the replies. One commenter wrote:

“Will probably be 59.99 at Walmart and Amazon for physical.”

Another did the math on what the digital discount implies about Nintendo’s ambitions here:

“remember everyone that digital eshop prices are $10 less than what the physical games are, so they might be intending this game to be the scale of a $70 game”

And then there’s the guy who braced for worse and came away relieved:

“Wow. I expected $80. This would be great. I’d buy a $100 special edition if they made it tbh”

Everything else is still a black box

Nintendo have been incredibly tight-lipped since the June announcement. What we’ve had is a brief cinematic with Brian Cox on voice-over duty. That’s it.

Nobody outside Nintendo knows whether this is a faithful 1to1 remake or something willing to take creative chances, with additional content or new gameplay mechanics layered in. Anticipation has been at an all-time high since June, which is a strange thing to sustain on a cinematic and a price leak.

Fans had been expecting a remake long before it was confirmed. The confirmation was the sweet part.

The Direct is hours away

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct airs at 10am ET or 4pm CEST today, and that’s where the remake gets its proper reveal. An official release date seems close to guaranteed. What’s less certain is how much actual gameplay Nintendo is willing to show.

There’s a regular Nintendo Direct tomorrow too, which raises the possibility of a few more surprises to close out 2026. More N64 classics getting new leases on life, maybe. One can only hope.

What I want is simple: Link and Epona at a full gallop across Hyrule Field, rendered on modern hardware. Hours away, if the leak holds.
